Female Speech Patterns

I'm working on my voice, and for the most part I'm happy with my pitch and resonance.  What I don't have yet is a strong grasp on female speech patterns.  I found this video on YouTube from CandiFLA where she goes over the difference between the way men and women talk.  It's a bit of a caricature, but you can't argue with her results.

I've been watching TV and paying close attention to the way that women talk, but I still don't quite get it.  I know there's a difference, but I haven't figured it out quite yet.

How did you all figure out this part of developing your voice?  Do you have any other resources to recommend?  All advice is welcome

Voice just seems to take a long time.  I've done some voice training, listen and observe, but still get misgendered frequently on the phone when people don't know me.  The phone is the most challenging for me, as there aren't any visible cues to help feminize the conversation.

What I have done is to call people on service related issues when I get the chance, and see how I do without self identifying.   Not so well when I'm paying attention,  better once I'm chatting.   Chatting, asking questions,  being less direct and more participatory seem to be the hallmarks for me to audibly be recognized as a woman.

I've practised my female voice training for 6 months and I really find ii not as difficult as i thought. I find that in my male voice I tended to go deeper, more abrupt and louder when I needed to get my point accross, in my female voice I do linger and go to the higher tone. My big suprise is that I have naturally adpoted a female tone and resonance and this has already caused me some problems as I'm in the closet. I now have two distinct voices now and sometimes I slip up but mostly when in male mode. Chatting with women causes me to go to my female voice easily and I keep having to remind myself, when I'm not with people that know i'm TG, that I need to let it go deep and louder. On telephone I can pass np. I will be on the speaker circuit for financial road show over the next few months and I hope I keep it together, it was no problem last year. BUT this year I hope I don't get carried away, it will be my last speaker role as a male.
