going to meet with my father

hello,
I have been out and living full time for about nine monthes, my father has came down to mainland for the winter and I will be meeting with him and and his wife next weekend. we have not seen one another for several years, he has known me to be tg but has not seen me since coming out and starting my full time expression. I am a bit nervous and relieved to get past this part at the same time. I am certain he will be very shocked from talking to his sisters though I do want to get him to know me before our time passes. I am nearly 58 now and he is 80 so this is my chance, not much sleep last night after talking on the phone but at least he agreed to have me come over

Always a tough one when a parent is so old, but we shouldn't have any preconceived notions just because he's older, he is your father after all and by this time in your life he knows he doesn't control you like so many parent's of younger people seem to think. I'm now 71 and I can assure you that at this age and beyond we are all striving to make peace with our family members and settle the disputes of the past, so I'm going to bet that you will have a nice visit, don't forget to give him a nice warm hug before you leave.
