I know this, um, a rather awkward question and TMI but can HRT make breasts produce milk? Can we lactate with HRT? I heard a story about a transwoman who apparently breastfed her newly adopted kids, but I am not sure it's true. It looks way too good to be true, but I wanted to be sure.

thanksss

Yes, we can.  Some of us may experience simple leaking and others here at Susan's have reported breast feeding and even pumping their milk.

It's not just for ciswomen anymore :)

I was wondering if you can lactate just if you are on progesterone or estrogen alone might work too?

Awww!! That's so sweet!!! *-* At least our breasts are capable of biological function too! I so can't wait one day to breastfeed my babies if that's possible :)

Nipple stimulation can initiate the release of colostrum even in the absence of measurable prolactin.  If you wish to breast feed a child you will need to initiate a regimen that simulates pregnancy.  Talk to you endocrinologist early and often.  There is some risk, and you will experience all the tenderness and emotions of g-girls.  Still if I was to become a new mother, you can bet I would be at the head of the line.

Got milk? LOL

Sounds messy to me, but you know what that always does to the size of them, right?

Generally lactation occurs when pregnancy is over and progesterone drops, testosterone increases. That was my experience when I once stopped HRT cold turkey (highly unrecommended) and yes, I started to lactate (and that was despite having AA boobs).

Thanks Julie for the info :) I wasn't sure whether lactation was triggered by some brain pattern and thus could only happen in cis women.

Lol, yeah, I do. I most likely won't get big boobs. At least my sister doesn't, she is probably around B cup. IDK never asked her. My mom's isn't either. I never wanted big boobs to be honest. If they come big, that's a bonus, but I won't mind if they're small, unless really small, like non-existant, lol. To be honest I feel the regimen would be worthy to breastfeed if I ever decide to adopt babies

Yep, definitely possible. My friend Ariel can do it.

Nothing here yet, but I'm definitely of the camp that thinks it's so cool that we can do it too with enough time on the blue pills. :)
