I'm 5'8" with an underbust of 30" with 36" around. I have a 27" waist and could probably shrink it down some if I excercised. I've mentioned it before, some internet bra measurements put me at 32DD or 36G. I don't know how much faith I can put into them though.

When he was ready he showed it to his friends and they said he had created a great statue. And the sculptor said he hadn't created anything, the statue was always there, he just cleared away the small peices." Rambo III

Mine didn't. But if you're a real tub of lard to begin with and get on a lean diet and exercise regimen then you can lose any fat you might have on your upper rib cage, sometimes back muscles will atrophy a bit. But if you just have a big ribcage like me, the only way that will happen is if you get run over by a bus. ;D

I may be able to arrange that... There might be some secondary health issues related to that particular process, though. Check with your doctor prior to making arrangements.  ;)

6' 0", 46B here (I expect once I lose some weight, it'll go down to a 44, *maybe* a 42...) 42 gut (so embarrassing... :embarrassed: , but again with weight loss I may see a 36 waist, like when I was 17 and 175lbs), 40 waist.

Incidentally, my band size is 46, but my bust size is 51...which technically makes me an "E" cup, but that's a bunch of meadow muffins imho. I'm a B, that's the bra size that fits me.
...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

Sorry just to correct my old comment on adding inches... you aren't SUPPOSED to just too many women do because they're used to bad bra fits and major brands don't sell a proper size range. The band should be quite snug, even tight, so yeah, ideally your band size should be about your underbust measurement.

Still haven't found a brick and mortar place around here that sells a 30 band though... it's so frustrating.

Funny that you brought this up because I'm 39 underbust and was getting a 44 band because the sizing instructions say to add 4" and if you come up on an odd number add another to come up on an even number. The cups always felt a tad bit loose, so I recently went to a 42, it's a bit tight but the cups fit perfectly. You'd think if they were B cups that they would be the same regardless of band size but I guess it isn't so.

Shantel : Oh, that's one of my pet peeves about bra sizing. :)  The cups are NOT the same by volume across all band sizes. So a 42B = 40C = 38D = 36DD and so on. Which means that for those of us who wear larger band sizes, the cup size "sounds smaller"!  And the reverse is also true; I have a friend in a 28D, which would be a 34A.

(Depending on the bra manufacturer, I usually wear 42DD or 40DDD.)

It's just too confusing!  >:( Half the time I just wear my women's cotton/spandex tanks and forget the bra altogether. Even though I'm old in years the booberties are under 20 years old and still perky enough to get away with it. I don't want to get Cooper's droopers though!  ;D :D

I was having such a hard time measuring my bra size every time I would come up with something different. So one sleepless night while watching television an infomercial came on selling jockey's new fit kit. It looked interesting so I thought I would give it a try.

It comes with 10 plastic cups varying in size from 1(small) to 10.
These fit over the breasts and you see which one you fill the best, without spillage or gaps. Then you use the tape measure for your band size. Again an odd number gets rounded up. You do not add 4 inches to your band size.

So according to Jockey I am a 3,40. But in reality I am between a 2 and a 3 cup.
I am in no way trying to sell this product, it just helped me find a bra that fits.

The best way to do it (unfortunately!) really is to go somewhere with an expert for a personalized fitting - and Victoria's Secret, Penney's, etc. where they just run a tape measure over your clothes doesn't count.

My wife and I went to Nordstrom's, and she walked in there wearing a 44DDD and left in a 36J, speaking of people who wear the wrong band size so the cups fit. :)

Shantel - I hear you on that one! I'm tempted sometimes if I'm in a heavy enough shirt, because like you, mine are new and still perky. Bras are a pain in the butt!

I'm pretty happy with my ribcage shape and size...

6', 33" underbust, 36B is comfortable for now, but heading towards 36C quickly.

I think you meant underbust bra size, the snug measurement one takes to determine BAND size, as in 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, etc.

I am 6 feet tall too. Wide ribcage and back (bodybuilder my whole puberty, HUGE mistake, ruined my body for life).

My underbust measurement (ribcage width) is 35 inches. It is a snug measuremenht.

To me, what MOST BRA MANUFACTURERS indicate (add four inches to an even number, five to an odd one) TOTALLY MAKES SENSE.

I add five inches to my 35-inch underbust measurement 35+5=40 BAND SIZE. 40 fits me perfectly most of the time, not tight, not loose. Of course, since bands are elastic, I can fit into bras with a 36 and 38 band, but I am fooling myself, they don't look or feel right.

How do you determine the cup?

Here's what most bra manufacturers say as well:

Substract your band size from your breast measurement . To obtain the latter, simply measure your breasts around their fullest part. This is a lose measurement, as opposed to the  underbust one. --I measure mine just above the nipples.

Then use this table to determine your cup size:
Difference
(in inches)   Cup Size
1   A
2   B
3   C
4   D
5   DD
6   F
7   G
8   H

So, I measure 42 inches minus 40 band size = two inches, that is,a B cup. I wear 40-B and it fits me OK. It is NOT TRUE that a 38-C or 36-D would fit me similar to a 40-B, that doesn't make any sense because the first measurement is the band size and the second is the cup size and those two things are different and separate things.

And to those girls complaining about measuring 30, 31, 32 inches underbust or whatever small measurement by average MTF standards, frankly it is annoying to read them sort of bragging/complaining about something that most of us average MTFs who started HRT after puberty, would completely envy having, because those small measurements are very similar to those of most cis women who are not overweight and have a nice cleavage, provided their cup is C or larger.  In my particular case, having a big rib cage makes me so self-conscious that it really produces a lot of "passibility anxiety", because my hips "only" measure 41 inches so my shape is not definitely what I wish it were, a pear and i infallibly feel inferior to almost every cis woman I see walking by me, who donhave nice cleavage, narrow ribcage and most of the time smaller hips than mine but they look way curvier because of their small ribcages, with very, VERY few exceptions.

My height is 5 ft 10.5 in, underbust is 31.5 inches. I've always been thin, even when I started putting some weight from the hormones before losing it through nutrition change - when I gained weight it all went to the belly and none of my body got fat except my belly including my underbust, so this is pretty close to being my actual ribcage size.

I also personally don't wear a bra. I'm somewhere less than A cup. My bust fluctuates between 33.8 inches to 35.4 inches. Or maybe I'm just not measuring it consistently.

I'm 6 ft and over 300 pounds. The goal is to get to 185 and I'm dieting to hit that.  Right now I measure at a 46-50 range depending on the band size.  I'm hoping when I get down where I want weight wise my band will be closer to the lower 40s. I'm accounting for a lot of fat and I'm actually fairly barrel chested.  I'm built a lot like a cylinder.  It's going to be interesting to see what hormones will do.

5'10 with 32 underbust and 35 bust if I'm measuring right.

Just started HRT but I'm pretty much lean right now so I don't think I'll lose too much around my chest but my measurements don't seem to bad compared to cis-female standards.
