Found this interesting study of what appears to be glottoplasty from 2007. It seems that patients who were unable to benefit from speech therapy are those that often have problems post surgery.

I think this study came up before in the context of people of a higher age profiting less from voice surgery than younger people.

I think it is right that voice therapy and voice surgery have to go hand in hand. The best results here (Jenny, Amy, Abby, Sarah, Olivia,...) were the ones who also wer able to have good successes in voice therapy but were tired of "faking" their own voice. Those who have no success in voice therapy have a harder time adjusting to a post surgery voice and seem to tend to use the new voice in the old way which means they use the same pitch , but it sounds worse as it then is at the low end of their new speaking range. Also prosody and resonance all play a role and can only be dealt with by changing the voice non surgically
