I don't want to appear too "girly" ... but what to wear!?

This was never a problem until I started being me!  ::) (Of course I would't have it any other way)

I'm off to Montreal for GRS with Drs Brassard/Belenger in a few days ... still trying to decide what to take in terms of clothing.

Clothing for the trip out and the day I am admitted is not a problem.

I would appreciate other's advice as to what is appropriate for wearing in the hospital/recovery home and finally for the trip home. (I'm flying back to London).

At present I've got 3 Long Sleeping Tee Shirts, a bathrobe and slippers on the list for the duration of my stay.

Have folks found that they started to want to wear "day time clothes" in the recovery home after a few days?

Long skirt or loose trousers for the flight back I think ... but any pros/cons to either?

This and other advice gratefully received! :)

Sam,

Some of the girls I was with were wearing both slacks an /or skirts about a week after surgery. I just wore pajamas till the following Thursday, then I started wearing regular clothes to go out more. With the aftercare schedule, I felt it easier to just wear pjs. Good luck with everything.

Weather has been still nice for this time of year so sweats could be nice so you could get out to the outside sitting area.

It gets old being stuck inside all your stay.

Most of the time pj's are norm.

In Bangkok I had Long flowing skirts or a pair of loose fitting trousers. And shorts and bicini. But Montreal at this time is likely to be less hot. Anything tight around the crotch will have a long stay in storage. The most important is to be comfortable and relaxed. And of a stain occurs then not have it ruin something expensive.

My biggest regret was not taking something smart for a drink / meal out somewhere as I did not believe I would be so mobile.

Knickers should also be loose fitting and ideally cotton helps. I found hipster styles worked better for keeping the pads in place without rubbing sensitive tissues

Good luck!

I basically didn't need anything except what you packed, and big loose sweatpants. :) I also wore a skirt for the trip home, because it put the least pressure on the area (and it was easiest when I had to pee!).

Keep in mind that while they *will* do laundry for you, it's not entirely predictable when or when it'll be returned, so you might want to make sure you have an extra outfit - another lounging shirt would do. You're NOT going to want to wear the clothes you had on for the several days you couldn't shower once you're finally clean!

Oh, and I second not using anything expensive or precious. I actually didn't get blood on anything, but it's easy enough to drip a spot or two and ruin something.

Thanks girls!

I've had a look at the weather forecasts and it seems to be predicting ... well ... pretty much the sort of weather we are having here in London at the moment.

I think I shall bring a couple of changes of casual/baggy clothing to wear in the end days ... as well as a skirt/top to wear home.
