Is she speaking to the trans* spectrum, I wonder?

"I want men to take up this mantle. So their daughters, sisters and mothers can be free from prejudice, but also so that their sons have permission to be vulnerable and human too — reclaim those parts of themselves they abandoned and in doing so be a more true and complete version of themselves"

Wow, I hadn't thought of it that way. I assumed she meant so that men could be free to express their "feminine" traits that society deems unacceptable.  But that is an awesome interpretation! I will have to listen to it again with that in mind.

Perhaps not directly, but she is addressing society's perception of gender as purely binary. I think this is a good thing. I am glad those walls are being dismantled. The "true and complete version of themselves" also speaks to trans* people in my opinion. After all, transition is about being yourself.
