Hello.  After almost 37 years in the closet I have finally realized self acceptance as a transgender person.   I've arranged an appointment with a gender therapist in the coming months who offers HRT referrals, although I'm not sure if that's the road I will ultimately take.

I look foward to being a part of this community and learning from the experiences of those who have travelled this winding road ahead of me.

Hiya Julie

Welcome!  We almost share the same name  ;)

A good therapist is a wonderful thing - not just for gender issues but for helping you really get to know yourself.

I did 18 months of therapy when I was in my 20s, and I grew immeasurably.  I then took another 20 years to do something about it, but now that I'm on my particular journey I'm really happy with all my decisions.

Welcome to Susan's family
First steps in understanding where one fits in the spectrum is always a great way to start.
Not all steps need to be large. Just need to make some steps to move forward on ones path.
Many here also in many different stages and each can help others work on moving forward in support and understanding.

In the meantime pull up a chair and give a look over the following links for the site info...

this is very true, so far my transition has been an emotional roller coaster with highs I have never reached and lows that come just by getting looked at the wrong way. I hope you have a smooth transition. And if you need support this is a great place to go!

Hi Julie, welcome and so nice you can join us. I too am a late bloomer but happy that I'm on this path, wouldn't change it for anything. I agree, a therapist is a valuable thing, I think I'll see mine for quite sometime to come. She helps me work through lots of little life challenges. All part of the wild ride  8)

I'm always excited when someone comes out and starts their journey! Makes me excited to see where everyone ends up and it makes me feel like I'm not alone in the first steps of my process. Good luck!  ;D
