I came across this letter today in the Trinidad Guardian newspaper. Free subscription may be required to read.

I am glad that they are pushing ahead with LGBT rights and it is gaining prominence but I am disheartened that "gay rights" is all that people seem to think about. One would think after the Jowelle DeSouza incident that trans* rights would be on people's minds too.

The other bad thing is that the PM thinks this is a referendum for the people to decide... NO!!! Basic HUMAN rights do not belong on the ballot, period.
