Suddenly hearing a ringing in my ears at night, as if I've been to a night club

I've been on HRT for 4 months, however in the last month I've almost doubled my doses.

Now worryingly i noticed a high pitched constant ring in my ears when my environment around me is dead silent (eg a night in bed).

I'm 30 and originally thought it might have been a sign of ageing. But when i googled it, apparently it can be a sign of bad blood pressure. I take 'Spiro' and i know this medication alters your blood pressure.

Should i be worried? Will this go away? I'm not due to see my doctor for another 2 months and wonder if this is normal or should make an appointment asap?

Thanks
J

You could go to the pharmacy or nearby Walmart or something and use the blood pressure machine to check. Many have them and I think its free. If you then see a abnormal blood pressure reading I would seek medical attention. Ringing in the ears can come from lots of things. I worked in a factory for a few years in my 20s, and now sometimes when it is too quiet I get a ringing in my ears. Those damn machines were so loud, even with earplugs in, I did permanent damage.

Good luck!
I've been afraid of changing, cuz I built my life around you.
but time makes you bolder, children get older , I'm getting older too.

I've had it for many years, but I'm pretty sure it was due to heavy metal poisoning. \m/

Check with your doc to make sure your blood pressure isn't dipping too low.

I've had tinnitus for over a decade myself.

HRT didn't seem to aggravate it for me. Caffeine has as well as clogged sinuses.

Check blood pressure, if in normal ranges then it's likely to be tinnitus due to damage to your hearing.

Otherwise, could be other head and neck issues, but pretty unlikely.  (Ie go see your doctor)

it's pretty normal for your hearing to shift as you get older. I experienced this same thing on HRT though actually and would occasionally have moments where I got a loud ringing that would then go away eventually. For what it's worth after being on HRT for six months or a year this problem went away. I do have a light ringing all the time now, but I'm pretty sure it's just normal to have a little ringing at this age (37). I don't think it's anything to worry about, but not a bad idea to get it checked out.

Could be stress related too. I would contact doctor if this persists ASAP, not wait too long.
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

On HRT since early 2004
Post-op since late 2005

I have mild tinnitus from hearing damage caused by loud music. It's a constant background hiss. High blood pressure exacerbates it.

Everyone should have a blood pressure monitor and watch their blood pressure regularly. The pharmacies sell them.

EAR RINGING MAY ACTUALLY BE HORMONALLY RELATED.
It has't necessarily to be your case, but please READ ON...

I'm postop since 2002. I was on Yasmin since 2003 to March 2013, when I suspended it being warned and concerned
of its possible lethal side effects (DVT and BC).
I never had tinnitus in my life before.
When in 2013 I switched to bioidentical Estradiol, among many other unpleasing side effects I started to hear this
very high-pitched sound which I always perceive in my 'head' (possibly it's actually from both my ears).
Since then, I changed my regimen several times, still trying to find a decent substitute to Ethynil, but there's apparently nothing to do: I added P, CPA, AngeliQ, I changed E form... always the same story, the more bioidentical E I take (no matter whether by GEL or oral or sublingual), the more tinnitus I
get. Even E only, without progestins or AAs. IT's not constant thru the day, some days it is stronger, some days almost absent or irregular, then I maybe
still experience intervals of 7-10 days without it (almost) but now the relation is CLEAR: the more E, the more tinnitus.

And I'm not apparently alone: if you google for 'tinnitus' or 'ear ringing' + 'HRT' or 'hormones' or 'estradiol' you will
notice HOW MANY cis women complain of similar issues, either when entering menopause, or when starting some
HRT (so it is apparently a little nonsense...)

I was seen by an ear specialist and he could detect no problems and no diseases in my auditive apparatus.
I never listened to loud music or other loud noises which could have damaged my ears.
I have no high blood pressure, I'm in the low range instead.
I have no other concurrent diseases which may explain tinnitus.
Simply put, the more estradiol I take, the stronger the tinnitus.
My doctors don't understand that. And in fact, if you search in the medical literature, there's no know relation
between HRT/hormones/Estradiol and tinnitus. But there's actual evidence of it, as I said above.
The only state that stress may be a cause. I'm quite stressed, but if I suspend E, my tinnitus stops also.

So far, my best theory is that high estrone might be a cause of it. Strangely enough, my body produces a lot
of estrone... even with TD gel, my blood E1 level is 5 times higher than E2, which is NOT phisiological (it should not
exceed 1:1). Currently I have not any better explanation.

I would have liked to try with E injections, to check whether this way at least my E1:E2 ratio normalizes, but I
live in Italy and I have not access to them (I really tried every possible road but without luck yet).

Maybe you have been going to night clubs, but the HRT is causing memory loss?

I'd get checked out by a doctor.  Better safe than sorry.
