Using susans chat with OSX Mavericks

Hi I tried going to the chat tonight with a new mac book pro retina that I have running OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks which is the latest version. When I try to go to the chat page, I get the following error:

"Your security settings have blocked an application signed with an expired or not-yet-valid certificate from running"

Has anyone else had this problem accessing susans from safari? I have java v6 and v7 loaded on the machine. Is it better to access susans from a different browser such as google chrome instead of safari? Thanks for any help!

Or just use a proper IRC client..
