Awesome Alice!  I have trouble most mornings when I walk up to my closet and have to reach for some article of clothing from the male half of my wardrobe.  It will be nice to purge it from my closet.  I'm sure I'll be spending a hefty amount of time this evening picking out a outfit for my first day at the office tomorrow. haha.

So apparently all the guys in the shop have been told (I was just notified by my manager).  No one really said much, not that I would expect them to in front of management, but he said they were alright about it when he told them.

Good luck then, I was lucky that I wasn't working when I started my RLE, hope it all goes well hun

Well, Today is my first day as Stephanie at work.

Been pretty smooth sailing too.  I came in early and everyone said "Good Morning" or "Good Morning Steph" and went about their usual business/responsibilities.

The owner of the company is in at the office today as well, and he came into my office... Looked me up and down... paused, and said "you make a great looking woman, but don't tell the guys I said that"  with a laugh, and I know he was kidding around so it totally didn't bother me. I chuckled with him.

His only question was when will the voice come with the appearance, and I just said it's a work in progress.

Considering how busy I've been the day is creeping by though...  Eitherway, I'll take this as a Victory!  :D

Thanks ladies..

Day 3 and everything has been smooth so far.  From my perspective, it seems like NOTHING has changed.  No one has asked any strange questions (or questions in general) or even commented on my appearance.  Which I find strange, but at the same time I guess is a good thing?  IDK.

I came into this thinking I would be up against even a bit of awkwardness.. but I've not really had anything of the sort.

One thing I've noticed is very few people have started using my name verbally yet.  They use it in emails, but nothing in person really.  Is that strange?  ???

How many times did they use your old name verbally? There are a lot more ways for people to direct a conversation straight at you, or get your attention without using your name

Quite a bit more often... That's how Ive noticed the difference. haha

Don't get me wrong.. it doesn't bother me, I know it's just as big of an adjustment for them as it is me. :)

Well as you said. "I know it is a big adjustment for them as it is for me"

At least it's not bothering you for now and, and you haven't mentioned anyone calling you by your old name. So partial credit to them.

If it gets to much maybe just let them know "Umm excuse me I do have a name you realize :)" politely of course

People referring to you by your former name is concerning. As for no other awkwardness, as I went full time all the awkwardness and fear of awkwardness I found was coming from me. The others I'm around never seemed phased.

They aren't using my old name, no one has made that mistake yet, at least not to my face/email...  they just aren't using my new name nearly as much as they used my old name when I still went by it.  That's what I meant. :)

There is 1 guy that is totally not having any of whats happening.  Won't talk to me, won't acknowledge me in emails.... even mid conversation with another employee that supports me, he rolled his eyes at me when I walked past his office.  LMAO..  I'm actually not that bothered by him, just sad that some people let it affect them so much when it has NOTHING to do with them nor affect their life beside the visual appearance they see a few times a day.  I didn't like him before transition, so I'm not exactly worried about it now.  :)

Congratulations Stephanie, I'm so happy that it's all going well. Your looking great by the way. I wouldn't worry about the odd anomalies like the guy that won't acknowledge you, sounds like like he's the only one.

I have my first meeting on Monday with a female colleague to seek her support in me transitioning at work. It will be sometime before I'm presenting as me at work, but this is the first step. I'm confident she'll be supportive. Its a very large company, and hundreds of regional locations so I need to plan it wisely. But I'm confident it will all go fine.

Congrats again Stephanie, so proud of you   :icon_hug:

Glad I misunderstood. :)

Hopefully that one guy will come round. And congratulations!
