Going to work on halloween as me, any advice or tips?

I read stephanie's post about going out on halloween and was like omg that is perfect! For me it is real but for everyone else it's just, oh he's dressed as a girl for halloween, no biggy, so passing isn't really an issue then. It actually inspired me to go out yesterday to my therapist dressed as me, for the first time! I wrote about that in my blog, located in my sig if anyone's interested.

Anyways, today I went up to work to get my check and I asked my boss if it would be ok if I did that and she said sure! She wants me to come up with an idea and let her know ahead of time to make sure its alright, I will be sure to do that, but I am sure it will be fine. I am trying to come up with ideas tho and would like some help.

Should i go dressed as a normal woman or should I get some kind of costume? It does have to be tasteful though, it is work after all lol, but i am thinking I should avoid going too extreme because it kind of defeats the purpose I guess.

If she has a good sense of humor go dressed as your boss. Extra points if she has a good fashion sense!

I am only "out" to her at work, nobody else. I have been there for years tho, as have most of my coworkers, so is sort of a family like type atmosphere. I don't think it I would be treated badly, heck I'm thinking I'll prolly get some tips and stuff from them. I do feel safe there, much safer at least than if I like went out to some random place for a first time.

I was thinking of going and getting my eyebrows done cuz they are quite um bushy lol and prolly nails done as well beforehand, like the day before hehe.

I wasn't gonna mention it to anyone else either, just the boss, I want it to be a surprise, tho I will prolly give hints that I am going "dressed up" cuz I'm such a bad gossiper *giggle*

I think it depends on how worried you are about whether others will view it as a costume or a glimpse of the real you.  A costume (e.g. Red Riding Hood) versus a businesswoman has more plausible deniability.  Personally, I would rather just dress as a businesswoman, but I'd worry that others would think I took it too seriously or had too much practice!

I say you go for it, I found this web site were you can subscribe and try as many different looks without spending a fortune on your wardrobe. what doesn't fit or look right can be be sent right back. Play around with different styles and looks from casual to formal. You decide how many things to send and what to send back and when.

I did the same for "carneval" here. Dressed up with stuffed bra and all (I think I used rice filled double layer water balloons). I was not out yet but people probably suspected something. I did not just want to "dress as a girl" , which felt totally stupid for me. So I took that as a base - basically first making myself into ME and then dressing up with colored hairs and a funny colored leggins to match and some colorful makeup. Like a "light" costume that any other girl could also do if she does not want a heavy costume. It was perfect for me. I felt like me being dressed a bit in colors - and I was actually almost thrown out of the male bathroom tha tI felt obligued to use at that time since I was not out yet. One guy was almost digging on me as well - I think it was still fairly obvious to most, but it was a fun day and for me it did set in motion my transition for real. I was so feeling normal that day, talking with the other girls, giggling and all that - it felt natural to me, so I knew I could not keep back any longer. I was about 23 at that time

No, I wasn't thinking that. I was thinking that, to your well-meaning co-workers, this is just a costume. They have no idea you're serious about it. I wouldn't expect them to treat you like a woman, that's all. They'll treat you like a man dressed as a woman, and some good-natured teasing might not feel so good natured to you.

Good idea LTD.  Halloween has long been an opportunity for people to act out, have fun, and try on a special identity.  It is just great to hear about you stepping out of your safe zone if only for a day.  I would bet you will soon be hooked on being out simply as YOU.  I often dressed up girly for Halloween but then i have not been troubled that people couldn't figure out if i was gay or wth?   Party on.....

Indeed - Expect guy to grab your breasts for example. Yikes. People who believe you to be a guy dressed as a girl can freely do all they are not allowed on women - grab the breasts, slap your butt and all this. If you have guys there who can be like this, it may be less of a fun experience. Although you may find that the women who are present at the same time will come to protect you - even if they do not consider you a woman (yet), but they will act against male sexist behaviour quite often, regardless of who it is dorected against. If it is an all male workplace - I would rather skip it actually...

A little slap on the butt feels good sometimes from a nice man. Grabbing a breast is a little rude but they love to do that also when they get excited. It's all part of being a woman.

I dunno. I did not feel very good when someone comes up to be to touch my breasts to see how they feel like and if they are real. Just without asking or even saying anything. Ah well - I gues sone can live with that. Be careful with breast stuffings though - no water balloons with water - guys may find it funny to use a needle. It all depends on how respectful and distanced the other peopple are, or if they are the sort of guys that do pranks on each other all the time.
I guess it comes down to that - dont expect to be treated as a woman from people who know you - whatever that would mean. But sometimes you may already get treated like a woman from people who never met you, which is REALLY nice. And women have empathy. We can sense if someone is doing this as a joke or if there is more to it. So this may well be a coming out to some of the women you meet, who will notice that you are not dressing up but are more yourself actually.

I work at a restaurant, it's about 50/50 female to male. The ladies work out front, the guys in the back, I am usually out front with customers. I know a lot of the customers and they know me since I been there forever lol.

The girls are already pretty touchy feely with me but especially towards each other! I mean they are always grabbing each others boobs and slapping asses and stuff, is pretty funny. In some ways I am one of the girls.

Some workers prolly "suspect" something is up with me, I have been letting my hair grow for awhile and do have shaved skin, mostly. I atm am not against telling them if they figure it out, heck to me is easier this way if they ask, cuz starting the convo to me is the hardest part, so if confronted would prolly reveal it, depending on the person.

We do have a crossdresser customer who comes in that day too usually so my coworkers are somewhat used to this. They're all nice to him and treat him like any other person (to his face at least) but do talk about him behind his back (cuz of how he dresses, really badly, tacky). I do expect to be compared to him and prolly take some jokes but I give a lot too, we all mess with each other like that.

I do have breast forms but I guess it depends on what I wear as to whether or not I will wear those or not, if I have a little something something with just a bra on might skip wearing them cuz but if can't tell w/o then may do it with em.

I did thick about going as a waitress and like imitating, steal something from like each of them. The only diff between what i wear and they wear is the shirt though, others our unis are about the same

Tha would be cool to just dress as a waitress like all the other women. They would like that I'm sure, you might ask 1 or some of them to help you with makeup, etc. You would be suprised in how much a woman likes to help us look nice if we just ask.  Good luck GF, have fun.

Aw, that sounds like a really good environment to do what you intend to do - I would go for dressing up in a costume that other women would choose for such an occasion and of course under that do your thing and be yourself . People then dont know if they should comment on your costume or on the fact that you also are presenting female at the same time
I am sure the gurls there will tease you a bit, but that is not going to be rough then. And I am sure that for some of them this will be the final click in the head about what is going on with you - so if you come out later they will say "we suspected before but that halloween costume on you, it was when I was sure already, glad you finally told us" - hehe

Honestly while it's sounds like a good idea it can also do something you very much don't want. And that being all your coworkers thinking your just kidding around about this. You want people to take you as seriously as possible so having your coworkers first impression of you being yourself a Halloween gag could hurt you in the long run when you really do go as yourself.
