I am in the early stages of transition, girly mode most of the time except work. Love my nail gel nails which cost me £25 to have done. Want to go to work without taking off the polish, bit scared, what should I do ?

The length and how conservative the color you chose may either help or make the situation more difficult. I suppose you could say you lost a bet or something. It might by you some time, but when they don't go away after a fashion they are going to know something was up. Do you know how soon you want to make the transition at work. This could play a factor in how you handle this too and take note of any personal grooming policies your work place has. The other thing to note is how did your nails look at work before. I was never one for clipping my nails in the first place.

Nail color is definitely important.  I myself wear a color that is best described as halfway between pink and bronze.  I use that one as it is close to the color of the nail/skin under nail for me anyway.  Before that I was using a clear coat.  When my boss asked me about the "brown" nail polish (the lighting wasn't that great where we were), I told him it was to keep me from biting my nails (it just so happened to help with that, too :P).  Now, it's just taken in stride.  Most people don't notice it, and all of the patron's who HAVE noticed, have given me compliments and have asked what color it is.

Mariah is right, check into the information at work and figure out if/when you are going to transition at work.

I am hoping/planning on doing this to give me an excuse to wear hot pink polish to work on Halloween, especially as my work does a lot with Pinktober stuff and fridays (which halloween is on this year) is the day of the week for October that everyone is required to wear a pink shirt (company issued),

No shame in being transgender or in introducing female elements into your presentation. Unless you think it could adversely affect your job, proudly display those nails.

Before I came out, I enameled my nails and let them grow long. Only one person was curious and I came out to them.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

I think people are afraid to ask what's up with my nails for fear of offending me and having to deal with HR. I am cool though. I won't report people unless I was really being harassed.

I just use clear nail polish, and up to today I had them long... (story is in the general discussion section, under "what made you unhappy today).

Thats my thought about what my coworkers probably think about me.  I've been wearing clear for months now and i honestly dont think anyone even noticed but I started wearing black polish for the past 2 months and eyeliner for like 3 months an I've only had one person comment.  I may change the color at some point but black is honestly the best color ever! I also feel that its the only color a "guy" can wear without someone questioning my gender/orientation and since I'm still pre hrt i dont want to out myself too soon.

Well as it seems I'm on the express train now so clear will slowly start to tint for me. Good thing. :)

Best of luck.
