If you're able to have a peri-aereolar procedure or the pedicle  DI technique, nipple sensation is usually retained. With the classic double incision with nipple grafting, no, there is no sensation.
The more I know, the more I know I don't know.

I had DI without grafts and my sensation is still a bit weird in the nipples but at first I had no sensation at all so it's better than nothing.

I had double incision and I can feel when something touches them. Rubbing them against things is not advised.

Forgive me for being curious but why is it not advised? Does it harm or irritate the nipples?

I stock shelves and when I started back to work after 2 months it down right hurt. I got good at avoiding putting boxes there so it lost its ouch factor. Touching with fingers is not a big deal. I could tell you the story of last month when gops of white puss came out, freaked me out.

Since in double incision they are moved and cut down in size (like a cis male) they sometimes lack normal sensation but that doesn't mean they have none, necessarily.

I do have sensation of cold, heat, pressure, pain, but not what I would term normal levels of any of that.
