Hello, this is my first post :) but ive been lurking for awhile.

Well ive been on HRT since April and at the end of July my dosage increased. This is going to sound stupid but I assumed that you would take one estrogen tablet in the morning and the other at night. Well I didn't read the label properly and it actually says to take them both at once. So since July/August ive been splitting them, but does it really make a difference if I do or not?

I am quite clear with my Dr's that pills are split into morning and evening doses, it's not been an issue. Generally it's been our belief that steadier serum levels are better, pills spread through the day aren't as steady as a patch, but they sure are cheaper.

It is best to check with your Dr. Everyone is different and prescriptions will vary per individual

My first Dr. said to take my dosage once every night and once in the day then adjusted the dosage amount to just once every night based on my blood tests, my new Dr. decided to split my dosage to half at night and half in the day again

His reasoning was to achieve a steadier estrogen build

Thanks you two :) well last time I saw my Dr. and asked him if I should take them at a specific time, all he said was that it doesn't matter when just as long as I take them. So with that I assumed there was no difference, however for now I will take them as prescribed just in case.

It's actually rather complicated...

The serum profiles differ greatly if you swallow them or do them sublingually.  Sublingually, you will get a faster rise in concentration, higher peak and faster drop than if you had swallowed the pills. Depending on how saturated the e-receptors are, it could be beneficial to take them twice a day. I'm on a rather high dosage and my doctor who is a MtF has me split my dosage and added a mid day dosage. So if you are taking a once daily dose, you are getting some pretty wild fluctuations in e levels every 24 hours. There are advantages to having a high peak level every day and there are advantages to having a lower but more stable level.

Thats where it gets complicated lol some people say theres a difference, my doctor said there's no difference. For the most part I've been taking my morning and evening dose sublingually. When I can't be bothered i just swallow.
