I used it for the first time today. Supposed to:

-Spur hair-regrowth
-Grow hair faster
-Healthier stronger hair

Personally I was mostly interested in the last two on that list, because I'm already getting a scalp advancement and I think the finasteride will continue to help the minimal spot on my head. I know its controversial but why not try it? I have yet to read a review of anyones hair getting ruined.

Does anyone have personal experience? I will keep you all updated as to whether this works or not. Seems hit or miss, but the chance of a hit will be FABULOUS.

Finished week 1. Still too early to make a conclusion.

I have been on finasteride for 7 months. I saw the tiny vellus hairs in my left corner but they never showed up in my right corner, never. After using this every other day for a week these vellus hairs are filling in my right corner, and seem more dense in my left corner. I think finasteride alone would have done this, but maybe the lasercomb expedited the process. (Do these ever become real hairs?)

Also, I have always had a dry scalp. Like in the back, its obnoxiously dry and the skin shedding. That is GONE. I will wait to see if it comes back. But I made no change to my shampoo or diet so is it the lasercomb? I have never seen anyone else reporting this result.

A slight increase in shedding, but I think I did most of my shedding after starting finasteride.

This thing only seems to work if:
lasercomb + dht blocker
lasercomb + minoxidil

I don't use minoxidil because it makes my hair seems greasy and flat. Blah.

Minoxidil isn't forever. Could you put up with it until your hair fills in?

Watching with bated breath. My hair isn't receding, but mightn't this be a better solution than surgery to get a feminine hairline?
April 22, 2015, the day of my first face to face pass in gender neutral clothes and no makeup. It may be months to the next one, but I'm good with that!

There are hair transplants you can get but those are insanely expensive though.

I was under the impression that minoxidil works but only as long as youre using it, then the results fade.

I'm getting a scalp advancement regardless, its not that much extra when you're taking care of the forehead bossing and the incision is already made at the hairline. I think if I can get the corners filled in the advancement results can be better shaped. Oh I can dream!

If you worried that it "might" be receding I would go see a dermatologist, they can tell you if you are and if you are then getting on fin will help prevent any further lost. Took me while to figure it out and I was in denial been on Fin about two months now. No noticeable difference yet - however they say you won't see any results really until 6+ months.

For fin it's about 6 months to wait for real results. I've been on it for almost a year now when I think about it and it's been really good progress. In no way am I back dulling barber shop scissors like when I was twelve but I've got coverage now for my thinning crown.

I'm not worried. My baby pictures show basically the same hairline.

Hair growth "fading" after stopping minoxidil is an artifact that most who experience this are males experiencing male pattern baldness and who still have moderately high to high levels of DHT in their systems.

A transwoman who actually undergoes GRS is not going to have the DHT to drive male pattern baldness anymore so hair gained via Minoxidil ought to stay.

Can anyone provide feedback on laser comb itself? Does it facilitate growth without DHT/minoxidil (for those who do not need them)? Or is it mostly hair regrowth oriented product? Big thankies in advance :).

Questions:

What brand and model laser comb did you get? Can you give us the price? There seems to be a wide variety on Amazon. Any advice for selecting one?

I don't speak for the company (for the record). But in the Hairmax forum their moderator often seems to recommend adding minioxidil. However their clinical results (their self-study) doesn't make mention of there being any other aiding factors. It should work without dht blockers and rogaine. But it could work better.

I bought the 12 version. Because it was the newest, most powerful, lasts longest, why not. I paid $400 on Amazon. It looks like Nordstrom might sell them cheaper, and the Hairmax website sells it at like $500+

The #12 is also cordless. So I can move around while I use it. Just makes it a bit more convenient.

End of Week 2.

Major shedding. Supposedly this is how you know its working. But shedding is shedding and its a psychological burden. I knew this was going to happen but this is the worst!!

But my scalp still seems a little less dry than when I started.

I will probably wait until Week 4 to update again. Then monthly after. Its supposed to be a 26 week thing so.... still early.

Week 4 complete.

Hair shedding has returned to pre-HRT levels. Its actually really hard to watch. Just need to hope it means something. If you can't handle the shedding I would definitely not buy this! But doesn't this happen with Rogaine?

So I actually want to report some progress... the corners are starting to fill in. I can really only attribute this to the laser comb since these are brand new hairs. Little peach fuzz-light hairs have covered the spot too. And on the edges/perimeter of the corners there are real hairs growing.  So I think they are going to keep growing in from the inside to outside edges of the scalp!! I'm back to the point I could almost feel comfortable pulling my hair back and not having excessive corner hair loss!

Can't really report anything on the top of my head. If anything it looks worse, with excessive shedding. The hairs I'm shedding all seem really thin. And hypothetically shedding is a good sign. So we'll see.

Still interested to find out if any other people had success.
