Coming out to old friends/acquaintances/Facebook

So I'm out to most of the important people in my life, and just began HRT. However, I have a lot of friends and team mates from college (when I was most in the closet) who have little to no idea of my gender issues that I mainly keep in touch through Facebook. I'm from a very liberal area and I doubt many would have an issue with it, but I'm wondering if I should just change the pronoun from "they" to "he" and leave it at that, or make a post opening the door to questions. What do you all think?

I had been using 'he' pronouns on Facebook for about 3-4 months with no comments from anyone. Last night I changed my name on there to Max, and still have not gotten any comments (negative or positive) on the change.

I think people will most likely not care or won't notice if you're just changing the pronouns. They will probably only start to pay attention if you post transition pictures on there.

I have a core group of friends that I'm close to, so I doubt I would just be able to change gender marker on FB and leave it at that. There would be questions asked. That said, some have already said they don't care about people's sexual orientation or gender identity but you never know until you actually do.

Also general phobia against anything not hetero-cis is rampant among my old classmates and friends but we do have a few classmates who came out as gay without much fanfare (although I'm sure some people talk privately about them).
