Jane's Sweet Refrain

I had been on HRT for over two years, and my breast growth had stalled out after about 11 months.  For the past two months, I have been on Finasteride in an attempt to reverse further some pre-hrt hairloss at my temples and thinning right in the front of my forehead. In the past week, I've notice breast, areola, and nipple size increase. I don't think I'm deluded. Could the Finasteride be responsible? And, if so, will I lose the growth when I stop taking it (I had planned to go off after a year or a little more)? Or is this growth most likely a coincidence????

I do not know the answer to you question. I do know finasteride reduces DHT, the strongest form of  T, by 78% on the higher dose. So perhaps you had DHT in your system and now it is reduced.

Also, I just switched to E injections from E pills and I now am growing again (3 cycles now).

I don't see why it couldn't be the cause; one of the side effects of finasteride is gynecomastia.  It could have been the push you needed to get over your stalled growth.

Or it could be a coincidence.  My endo has told me to give HRT four years to work its magic, so I would expect changes to still be happening well into year three.

Oh yes.  Two years ago my doctor said that even though I was already on a very good dose of E and Spiro the added Finasteride would further block DHT and help feminization a bit.  I think it was a great help.

Pre-transition I had been prescribed Proscar a finasteride medication for prostate problems. The doctor I was seeing had assumed that because of a slight abnormality that he thought he felt that I needed that treatment, meanwhile I developed gynocomastia as a result and later it turned out that the condition was actually being caused by my gonads having been toasted by excessive exposure to Agent Orange, so once they were gone I was out of the woods with the prostate thing. This was in effect my entrance into the side door of the transgender world as I have mentioned probably too many times already. But finasteride will definitely get the boobs going and I feel sorry for men who need the help who have prostate cancer and don't realize that the side effects will be unwanted breasts unless of course they want to have an excuse to further transition later.

Finasteride will only prevent hair loss for as long as you take it. If you go off of it, you should expect the hair loss to return. If you're other HRT isn't stopping it, anyway. I've never heard of it causing breast growth. It's possible that it's an extremely rare side effect but seems unlikely.

It did and it does to a lot of genetic males and is posted as one of the potential side effects.
