The title basically lays out the post!  What is going to happen on day one?  I have Panic/Anxiety disorder and I'd like to know what I am going into!  I know I have to take all of my meds and I am assuming that I will have blood work done, but is there anything else?

I have Anxiety/Panic disorder. Do you take clonazepam by chance?

You have questions to answer again including some gate keeping ones and how far your wanting to go with your transition. In other words, more questions.

Diazepam Jessika.  It really helps the ups and downs for me.

I assumed that there would be some more questions Mariah.  I know exactly how far I want to go and it stops right before srs.  As much as I don't care for the little guy, he's going to stay.  I haven't used him in so long, he has atrophied and is small enough that it doesn't bother me that he is there, it's his two buddies that I don't like hanging around. I hope the medications and hormones will take care of that.  The rest of my body is just wrong and that is what I want to fix.

Raelynn, I'm glad to hear that. I was never in doubt as to how far I want to go and SRS is definitely needed in my case. I totally get your wrong feeling that is how I have always felt in regards to down below.

I'm going the route of informed consent. I'd like to just go in, answer a few quick questions, get blood work done, get my script and be on my way. I seriously doubt blood work would be ready within an hour, though, would it? I wish everything would just hurry up.

For me was simple... had my therapist letter with me, went to see doctor, he had me sign some forms saying I consent to HRT...... he asked if I had questions..... then gave me 3 prescriptions... and sent my happy butt on my way... he was really friendly though, him and his office staff all called me by my preferred name... he gave me some forms to take to a lab, then I will see him next on December 4th to discuss my hormone levels :)

You got prescriptions without initial blood work? Hmm...

Yes, didn't need to do any initial blood work.  We will revisit my hormone levels in a month to see if they need raised or lowered or stay the same.  Every country, state, region whatever different I suppose

I sure as hell would WANT initial bloodwork before I take Hormones. My safety comes first and foremost. That day is getting closer and if my Endo tells me Initial Bloodwork isn't needed, I will insist.

Safety first.

I didn't know how they did it. I just assumed they'd look at your levels before deciding on a dosage. If that's not how they do it in Texas then I might be getting lucky on the 17th! My roomie let me go through two garbage bags of clothes she doesn't want, so I picked out several things, and a few of them require breasts. My body is ready...

Raelynn, you will most likely be asked questions about your health, whether you smoke, how much you drink and other drugs (medical or recreational) you are taking. They may also ask questions to gauge if you understand that you know what you are getting yourself into by starting HRT. You will be asked about your medical history and family medical history, especially around breast cancer, heart conditions etc. The endo will take your weight, height, blood pressure, check your heart and breathing. They may also check your chest for breast/mammary gland development. They are likely to check the size if your testes to gauge how much if a t factory you gave down there (yep, pants down). If it hasn't been done already they will, order specific blood tests and you will probably need to wait until you get those done until you are prescribed and hormones. Good luck!

^See, that's what I was expecting, but I'm impatient right now so I'm ready to do just about anything.

May I ask why impatient? Remember, it's a Journey, not a race. :)

Come on, now.. It may be a journey, but I'm tired already, and I haven't even really started. I mean, I'm out to most people, and friends are doing their best with the name and pronouns, but I still dress and look guy-ish. I'm ready to see some changes, and I know they are, too. The longer it takes, the more I feel like people will start taking me less seriously. Once I have it I'll feel like I've beaten the next level and achieved a new ability, to use video game terms. :P

Once you've figured yourself out after 30+ years the last thing you want to do is lollygag around. Things need to get moving.

high5.... you have a right to be excited! I am happy for you.  I was hoping I would get my hormones that day, too.  Doctors here are so busy and takes a month just to get another appointment... and if I had to wait another month I think i'd of screamed lol....it will take a month anyways for the hormones and T blockers to build up and start taking effect, that's when the doctor will decide if I need more or less.  He said I will most likely need less because my klinefelters condition.  Good luck and hope the best on your journey through transitioning :)

I understand you want to move forward. I'm 47 and just starting the journey. I'll move along at my pace, regardless if people will take me serious or not. I am not doing this to satisfy their opinions or justify to them, I'm doing this for myself.

I wish you all the best however. It's a long road for all of us. :)

*hugs*

Oh, I don't do it for anyone but myself. I'm not trying to comply with anyone's ideas of what I should look like. I just know the sooner things begin, the sooner I'll feel better presenting. I'm just doing things little by little right now. When my skin gets softer, my pores get smaller, and I start gaining weight, then it'll be time to go a little further. Right now I feel like I'm in limbo.

I want INSIST my new doctor do run a full panel of blood work on me.  If she starts handing out medication on the first day, I won't go back.  I have done the self-medicating crap and it is a wonder I didn't die.  I have researched the heck out of this and I want to do it the RIGHT way.  I am just verifying what I read vs. what you have experienced personally.  Ironically, the only issue that I am going to have is the testes touching... I don't like ANYONE touching them.  It just reminds me that they are there.  The breast check will be no biggie.  I have had breast exams and a mammogram (due to my size) and it isn't comfortable, but it's necessary.  BUT, it all boils down to wanting to do the right thing.  I am not a young kid anymore and I want a doctor to monitor my every move.  I want to live a long life and enjoy my grand babies someday.  I am not in a hurry either.  I have waited 40+ years and what is a little longer.  I am doing this for the inner me and if it affects what others see me as on the outside, then okay, it does.

*edit Alexis:  Nipples aren't going to be an issue for me lol!  Already have 1 7/8" areolas and large feminine nipples.
