my brain really overreacts to being misgendered ,as if they're attacking me or something even when I know they have no reason to think I'm not a girl. It's such a strong reaction that I'll avoid people and situations where I think I'll be misgendered. I feel like something's wrong with me and it's not supposed to hurt so much . can somone please tell me I'm not alone?

You're definitely not the only one. The sting of being misgendered never goes away.

Especially when it's done by those who knew you before you started transitioning.

I actually suffer from the same thing. I was wondering if other people experienced it to the same extent as I did lol. (Today actually.) I deal with it day in and out (as I still present as guy.) even at home it never ends. o.o it makes my blood boil when someone calls me he and usually makes me feel like a failure. :O The only way I've found to make it stop is to sleep. (It's worse when I don't have enough sleep.) my therapist hasn't been useful in the matter and to me it hurts more than losing someone close. (Each trigger.)

But I understand your pain and you aren't alone. I'm honestly kind of glad I seen this topic as I was thinking I'm alone on the matter.
I'm always looking for more people to chat with! :)

like poison darts from a blow gun
exactly ....tottally accurate description. I've had many well meaning cis freinds say things about misgendering "making me uncomfortable" that I started to wonder if that isn't supposed to be a huge understatement

Yep... that's normal and it happens. Difference is if it was intentional or not... but either way I'd be pissed.  >:(

You are definitely not alone. The darts from a blow gun analogy is pretty accurate of how it feels to me.
