Well after some research I have booked a flight and appt to Boston to consult Dr Spiegel..
Since I don't need much or anything as far as FFS but I do want a more youthful look and will do anything suggested to soften my face.. I figure why not look as good as possible..
Going full time I would feel more confident..
Anyway I am excited..

Good luck with the trip!  Report back and let us know how it goes.  I'm also interested in mild FFS.

Hi! I have had FFS with Dr Spiegel and am very happy. I had just two procedures with him, but I think they were key. I also had FFS with Dr Leis at a latter date. The reason why I had them at different times and different doctors was finances. I submitted my photos to Dr. Spiegel, as well as to a number of other FFS surgeons in the US and abroad.  Some recommended pretty much everything, others just certain procedures. Dr. Spiegel was one that recommended just what I needed, but gave me options. In my mind I already kind of knew the procedures I absolutely needed for my goal, which was to pass visually. I am of the average height and stature of other females, so at the beginning of my transition, after being on hormones for awhile, my first priority was ffs. And I did alot of research and contacted many ffs Doctors. I narrowed them down to the ones that didn't necessarily recommend rhinoplasy or jaw or chin work, to pass more as female. Everyone is different and requires what is right for them. To make it short, the procedures I absolutely required were upper face (brow bone/ orbital rim reduction, scalp advance and brow lift), the most important of them all, and an upper lip lift. Just those two procedures. I first had the upper lip lift, and cheek implants with Dr Spiegel. I didn't have the finances to do it all at once. And with those procedures, I chose to do them under local anesthesia, in Dr. Spiegels office, with no other sedation. I chose this to reduce costs, but am glad I did because I had no anesthesia sickness after and recovered quickly. But it all depends on you, and your tolerance. The most uncomfortable part was the initial injection of the local anesthesia, and after that I didn't have any pain while the surgery was done.
That alone was enough for me pass. I am very happy I also had the cheek implants, which is what moved me from "passable" to "pretty".
The procedure I had with Dr Leis (brow bone/scalp advance) was also critical. No one takes me as male anymore (that doesn't know I am trans). No one who sees me ever takes me as anything but female.
So yes, just do what you need. And not follow the "cookie cutter" approach.

I should be able to post photos here on site soon so you will be able to see.

Ok so here is the update
Well, everyone kept telling me I look great and dont need FFS right?
So I have my consult and Dr asks me what i would like out of FFS and I said to look as good as I can.. I waited this long want to look good
Also I am in sales and want to be able to build a new business with confidence and not worry about passing at all.
So even though with make up I look.. ok.. here is what I need to have done so I can wake up, put my hair in a pony tail and walk out the door without makeup and be natural
Forehead contouring with scalp advance and browlift
Lip lift
Tightening of jowls neck and mid face
Enhancement of cheeks
Upper and lower blepharoplasty
mandible contouring
rhinoplasty
cheek implant cbsm medium

So, expensive.. OMG  very expensive but I am going for it in January.
After I recover will post pics of the old me last year which I do not even resemble and the new me with hair extensions.
I am so excited.. can't wait..

Awesome news Carrie.  Sounds like a good amount of work to be done - probably pretty much what I'll need in the near future.

Do you mind me asking how expensive that might be?  Are we talking in the $20K range?

Eva

Id say more like 40K minimum....  Im real close to setting a date myself but I am considering doing a consultation with Dr S myself first ;)

Cost is more than 40k way north of that figure.. but basically I am getting pretty much everything..
Will be so worth it. I will make up the cost by being very very productive in sales again.
Anyway, can't wait.. so excited.

Well I get it!!! Im at least lucky I dont need the cheek or eye work but everything else I do need...

Still torn on whether or not to go with a full type 3 forehead reconstruction though :-\

Definitely want it all lifted though  ;)

Seems like the farther I get with facial hair removal and weight loss the more just a simple face and brow lift would help.... BUT just like anything else "might as wells" come into play at that point...

Congrats on committing to it and good luck!!!

Unless you have a brow bossing that's so small thats it's almost invisable, and very thick bone in the frontal sinus area, you will need a proper forehead reconstruction called "type 3". Only around 3% of transsexual women can get away with just a little shave here and there, and have a decent enought result. For everybody else, it's either the good result can't be achieved with just shaving, and it's very unsafe. Doctors like Spiegel and Di Maggio know a thing or two about fixing the horrible mistakes from some diletant doctors who doesn't know how to perform forehead reconstruction. When your forehead wall starts to colapse it's too late, rather think about it now.
