With the acception of our compost and recycling program Nova Scotia has always been 10 years behind the rest of the country.  To my knowledge we're one of the few (if not only) Canadian province where ones gender tag will not be changed until documented prove of SRS is provided.  On June 16th, a local trans-woman decided to step up and challenge the process by filing a human rights complaint with the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission.  In September her human rights agent met with lawyers from the Department of Justice and the Department of Vital Statistics and was promised that the matter would be brought to Province House by December of January and passed by the spring of 2015.
