The swelling and redness will go down. I did get my factual hair waxed a number of times before starting electrolysis. The first time was the worst but it did get better with subsequent waxings. It's only a temporary solution though and you'll find new growth appearing pretty soon. Also be careful of ingrown hairs and infections.

Laser or electrolysis are the only real way to deal with facial hair. Yes, time consuming, painful and expensive (especially electro) but ultimately worth it.

You're right of course, I put some Vaseline on it and I think that helped... I guess I was just nervous about losing an ability (even something as silly as losing the ability to grow facial hair). I guess I've got to come to terms that if I want to be a girl there's going to be some stuff I can't do.

I still want to be a girl though...

I guess I just mostly feel dysphoric about the stuff below my neckline... Is that weird?

Edit: And no I don't really want a beard, though I did for a while I guess, it helped me fit in and it looked better than the swarms of acne I got when I shaved. It did feel a bit like a character more than me though... Although part of me wonders if I just want it to feel like a character so I have more justification to think of myself as a girl... and holy caw I'm looking for justification to think of myself as a girl instead of a guy, yes!

Uh do you know how long it usually takes for it to go down? It still looks just about as bad as before...

Just so you know, Waxing and plucking of hairs is the worst thing you can do to facial hair. Why? because you are causing trauma in that area. this increases blood flow to the hair follicles and stimulates their growth faster. Shaving is the best option if you cant do electrolysis. Was told this by my electrologist this week actually. And you can cause ingrown hairs as Karen stated.

You can also damage the follicles and make them really hard to get with electrolysis. Though it looks like you have decently dark hair so it should prob be laser for you.

Maybe you should look at an endorsement deal with Kool-Aid.

Waxing is time-consuming, messy, and expensive. Get an epilator! They're the best (like the Karate Kid song).

Before you epilate, take a shower and exfoliate. Use one of those gritty exfoliating gloves. Dry off, and wait a few minutes. Let your skin dry. Then epilate. And when you're done, use baby powder on all the redness.

Uh do you know how long it usually takes for it to go down? It still looks just about as bad as before...

Ow. Mine had gone down within a few hours. But I had mind done professionally. I should add that I had light and finer hair than most because of an earlier two year period on HRT so it was probably less traumatic for me than maybe others. Just keep using moisturising cream it will go down eventually.

I have never had any skin problems from occasional make up use, even back when I used to have really bad skin. Then again I never bought cheap ass makeup either, since my skin is kinda sensitive to a lot of things.
So I don't think so?

Some moisturiser would be a good idea for sure anyways.

Thank God I don't have facial hair but aren't the suppose to be testing a cream that stops it from growing?  I think it was originally an AIDS drug.

I use tweezers.

Tweezing + hormones has stripped a once robust beard into a few tiny spots of softer hairs.

I will get those done by laser and tweezing was a fun nightly ritual.

Lots of Aloe Vera does seem to be slowly helping.
