After your first laser appoointment, when can a girl expect shedding? It was a Gentleease Pro (Alexandrite) and it hurt, bad, like a sparkler being held to my face, but now I just have much smoother lighter hair that doesn't seem to grow much and I'm wondering if I should expect shedding? It's been eight days. I heard you can expect shedding between 1.5 to 2 weeks. The brochure and tech said three. It's like I'm the only person that sees the hair so it's not a passing thing but a peace of mind thingy. Danke.

I find that most of the facial hair has shed after the first 10-12 days, but it's the last few of those (days 9-12, say) when I really start seeing it clear.  Prior to that, I only get small amounts of loss each day.  But don't worry, it all depends on your rate of hair growth and I was told it can take 2 weeks or more.

I find that body hair sheds more slowly -- but that makes sense, since it also grows more slowly, and they only want to laser it every 2 months instead of every month.

I hear you on the pain, btw. When I had my test patch done I was like, "Oh, this is really no big deal!"  And then they did my whole face, and... that top lip, omg... ;_;  And now they keep putting the power up! >.<  Top lip and jawline are pretty horrible for me.  On the body, I find it doesn't hurt at all.

Anyway, all the best with your results! :)

Mine usually fall between 1-3 weeks most of it around the 2 week point, and after 3 weeks thats probably all your going to loose before your next session. some of the hairs you can even pull out after the first few days. probably not a great idea though as it probably causes more ingrown hairs but I still do it. yea laser kind of painful and it gets worse as they turn up the heat but its so worth it and it only last 10 minutes.

They told me 10-12 days too and I was really disappointed by day 12. Turns out it's 2-3 weeks for me also. By the end of week 3 I was quite happy.

I continue to shave a few days after laser appointment so not really experience shedding.  Just start experience less hair and no need to shave three times a day.

100% agreed on this.  Having suffered through top lip lasering many a time, when the technician started lasering other bits of my body, it was almost a pleasant experience.  Glad to have the worst over and done with, although I've been told I should think about having the, er, "yambag" done...not sure how pleasant that area will be to have cleared, but surely it can't be worse than the top lip.

Yup. I go again next Thursday.  Most of my face is pretty clear now, but the top lip and those annoying bits at each corner of my jawline will still need two or three more sessions before they're completely smooth I think, even if I have very little shadow already.  More pain!  Yaaay. -_-

Brenda, that really made me laugh.  I've been thinking about having the, um, 'yambag' (lol) done after my face is finished.  If you go ahead with it, please let me know how it goes!

Yep it takes about 1-2 weeks for them to start shedding and by the third week the last of them fall out. After that I just see a few stragglers here and there that fall out without me noticing. I exfoliate to clear the dead hairs and to help minimize what little shadow I have left.

I usually waited 4 days, took tweezers and one by one removed all dead hair..

I have just had my second session on my neck four days ago today (can only afford the neck right now). After the first session I noticed hair fell out within 7 days with the remaining taking about 2 weeks to fall out. I had a few odd strips of hair/shadow remain. Thus far after this second session I have had no real change, and I think within a few more days I might start to see something. In terms of pain I am petrified about the top lip when I get it done after xmas. As I plan to do the face then with touch ups on the neck where required.

A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting
