Oh boy, I could NOT have done liquids, and it wouldn't have helped me any. I was VERY hungry after surgery, kind of a your mileage may vary thing I suppose.

Haha! Yeah, it's variable for sure. I was mostly thinking to make sure he stayed hydrated. I was able to avoid unpleasant side effects by drinking tons of water and drinking soups. Obviously if you're hungry after surgery make sure you eat!

Congrats on the consult! I know you've been waiting for that phone call for a long time brother. Jodi is super sweet. She grilled me on life in Japan when I was there.

For diet, I would recommend lots of liquids. It helped me immensely to basic have a liquid diet for a few days. I was so tired I barely felt hunger anyway, so I wasn't starving.

Thanks, man!  Yeah I've been wanting on that call for at least a couple of years now!  That liquid diet might be a bit gnarly for me, but I'll be sure to stock up on water, lol!

UPDATE GUYS:  I never thought I'd be saying this, but I HAVE MY TOP SURGERY DATE SCHEDULED (Jodi was the one who booked it for me.)!  My surgery date is on September 22nd.  That's 10 months out.  I gave myself such a long time frame so I could build my savings back up just in case my mother decides this is something worth kicking me out for.  I doubt she will do that, but it is always good to have a plan.  At any rate,  I'm not going to let anyone stop me from achieving this goal!  Thanks guys for all of your support!  Without this site, I don't think I would have ever had the courage to do such things.

Thanks, Ayden! :)

Another update:  I put my deposit down and booked my stay at New Beginnings Retreat.  Next stop, finding a good deal on flight tickets.  I've never flown in an airplane before, so this might be quite the challenge....

would also say often periods will be affected by the stress of surgery and sort of naturally postpone themselves - I had surgery on my back just over a year ago and came on pretty late (like a week or more) afterwards instead of being on for the surgery like I should have been.

That is so true PucksWaywardSon.  When you think you have them figured out so you willn't be bleeding for a special event and they start early or come late and mess everything up for you.

Man, I totally forgot about the stress aspect. I've had that happened at least once before. With the way I planned, I was hoping to schedule at the tail end of it, but if stress has to play a factor, hopefully it will work in my favor.
