Isn't there a difference between progestin (Provera) and Progesterone (Prometrium)?
I know some people who have been on Provera, but didn't like it (mood swings, T levels going up). While on Prometrium, they didn't get the same results, but usually reported better results, and none of the mood swings and T levels rising things. If I'm not mistaken, I think the pills also metabolize in the body differently?
I haven't actually found any scientific testing that says progesterone is good or bad for transsexual paitents; mostly just conflicting information. From what I understand, Prometrium is better than Provera if you are Transsexual; however, it isn't deemed necessary for feminization. The doctors here have no idea themselves and if there is any benefit. Some of us around here are on progesterone, while others are not.
I'm on Prometrium myself, and I take it at night because apparently it can make you sleepy (I took it in the day once before, and didn't notice that I was sleepy).
As for my results, it's difficult to say how much the Prometrium effects me or not because I've been on it since I started HRT. I can tell you that I have growth, but I don't know which is from which. I can tell you that my levels are excellent, but who knows if it's the prometrium or my own body.
