I'm an education student and this year was my first year, next year we need to observe at schools. I was really stressing about this because you have to fill in your name in the form (I still need to change my name) and I didn't think they would want some weird transsexual person in their school, if they even knew what a transexual was. My friend Celeste said they can't do that and that it would be wrong of them. But I thought they would just say something like "Sorry , we have too many university students in our school already".
So today before I went to the school I was planning on going to, I called the main person who deals with students in my division at the university , and she said I can just change my name on the form to Melanie, as long as my student number is correct she doesn't mind. Luckily there was no space where you had to fill in your gender.
So I changed it on the form, went to the school, and they didn't suspect a thing out of place. I was surprised how easy it was, I even prepared myself to have to say this whole thing about how I could maybe dress as a guy if it was really a problem, but that was not necessary. I'm so glad it was not a problem at all. I could see they didn't even know I'm trans at all, if they did, they hid it pretty well.
