So i recently made an ok cupid account and wow am i getting messages like no other. I did make it very clear that I am MTF on my profile so is it something i should really bring up?  What are the guidelines and rules as far as the dating scene goes?

I too use OKC. I don't have any mention of my transness. Just listed as "woman". I have been bringing it up either just before or on the first date. I dunno, my transness or womanhood for that matter, are not te most important parts of me. I care more about a connection based on mutual attraction and shared interests. Somebody's transness, gender identity or lack of is not in my list of priorities for choosing my partners.

I do get a lot of messages from guys who appear to seek me out, since I am still visibly trans at this point. I just don't advertise it or respond to creepers.

As for determining the creepers, that's a whole new post probably [emoji6]

I had OKC once. It's actually kinda fun if you don't take it too seriously.  As far as ruidelines and rules goes, I think everyone is going to have a different takes on it.  I've seen many vlogs, blogs, and discussion and everyone seem to have different opinions. If you are going to get in a relationship, I think you should let him/her know out of respect. If you are just flirting and nothing serious, I don't think you need to bring it up. My two cents! :)

While it can be fun to experiment, and sure I had my fun with dating online, it can also be disappointing. I did like attention I got, that's me being very honest, but at the end of the day it became problematic. I HAD to tell them I was trans, because they WOULD find out if I ever met them irl. So I remade my profile and said I was trans. While they all congratulated me for my honesty, none of them wanted a date.

So then it boils down to how well you pass. Yep, that is life: people judge a book by the cover, especially guys, especially online. FACEbook is a prime example. It is all about the external. So I finally quit dating online, and went on with my life. At one moment I wasn't looking for anyone to date, until my first love stood before my front door. He delivered packages as his job, and asked ME on a DATE. Pretty romantic, I would say! So that lasted a few months.

Well, that is life. I don't think I'll do online dating anymore, and I just wait and see what life tosses at me. Even a blind pig finds the occasional truffle now and then...  ;)
