Okay, so I just found out HCF failed to contact me regarding suspension of my health cover.  A year ago.

I had it set up to automatically pay and that worked for me for years.

So I am now not covered for anything, they refuse to let me backdate payments and keep my cover.

They also addressed me by my old name, even though I specifically told them to update my details.  Horrible service.

So I am now looking for a new, less a$$hat insurance.

Anyone know trans/intersex suitable cover?

Sorry you have been messed over by HCF.

I have been with them for years and they have been very good, including changing may name and gender as soon as I requested it.

I presume when your payments lapsed that they expected you to contact them if cover was still wanted. Not nice but understandable.

I do know from other girls that Medibank will payout for trans*procedures as long as they are coded correctly. It might be worthwhile to talk to them.

Sorry, I've been with hcf since I was extorted into joining a health fund by Howard. I resented it at the time but it should hopefully come in handy for the op.

Just for fun:

I sat in front of a female HCF employee as she went through the procedures that I am having checking to see if they covered them and watched with glee as her face went paler and paler.

Sorry for the hijack

For what its worth medibank private will cover the entire hospital stay with Andy Ives no excess and the 5 separate items that vaginoplasty with Andy Ives is normally broken into to the max value given by the Medicare schedule :)

I don't know what level of cover I have though (I am under my parents policy) and I can give all the relevant info I have, but I cannot guarantee it's complete accuracy :)

Thanks all.

Is Australian GRS worth this fuss, or should I just crowd source and go overseas?

Choosing a surgeon is an incredibly personal thing. I think you need to be very clear on who you choose and why.
I wrote down a list of questions and went through them and made a decision based on how comfortable I felt with the complete package.

The have very good benefits. Incredibly good.
