The only time I really watched the L-word is at the dyke bar, or with my girlfriend, the only plot line I enjoyed and paid attention to were the ones involving Cybil Shepard and her husband and Pam Grier's character, yeah I never got the trans character at all.
My dream when I started doing stand-up was to open for Margaret, that's one reason I didn't go, I didn't feel funny last night nor did I have any material ready, you know, comics have to be funny all the time, there is a famous comedian who comes to our AA meetings and his shares turn into comic monologues. My sponsor, who chairs the meeting questioned him about it and he says that people expect him to be funny all the time.
BTW it is amazing the people one meets in San Francisco at AA meetings, I would love to tell but I can't.
