Although she told the two arresting officers she was a woman, she was ultimately booked as a man after being interviewed by Sgt. Tania Bell of the city's Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit.

Bell ultimately classified Soto as a "transgendered male."

Soto told investigators that she informed the marshals she was not a man but was "mocked" and called "thing."

oh, waow...

They were so sure she was a male-bodied individual it took them a whole weekend to finally do an examination and confirm she had a female body -- even after an inmate yelled out that she was a she.

So someone still sporting a penis will be shoved in with the other males and no excuses/backtalk/do-overs, etc.

Good god, it doesn't even look like she's a transman. And clearly, if she kept saying she was a woman, she isn't one.

I think they mistook her for an MtF.
