Hi Cristyjade, thank you for your service. Have you seen the Roll Call thread? There are a lot of veterans here on the site.

Hugs, Devlyn

No I didn't but I will try and see, thanks and really just did it because I was phiscally able to and I felt like it was a resposibilty
to the others before me and people I served with, its a job and I am blessed that I got to do it. I really just liked the song and it was the first time
I seen it and there are so many that had it worse in combat than I, So I just want to hug them all.

I thought I recognized scenes in the above video. My old squadron was deployed on the USS George Washington (CVN-73) when that video was made. I also remember pier 12 on the Norfolk Naval base. Some scenes looked like a welcome home reception for pilots at NAS Oceana where my squadron was based. My old squadron was VA-34 the "Blue Blasters" and they flew the A-6 Intruders. They were decommissioned in 1999 then immediately recommissioned as VFA-34 to fly the F/A-18 Super Hornet. I served on that squadron from 1972 - 1975 when they were deployed on the USS John F Kennedy (CV67).
I did not go to Vietnam but when I left the Navy in 1975, the war was over for 18 months. We were not welcomed and was treated with indifference. Some people would not look me in the face after they found out that I served. I and others who served were not hired by the aerospace companies because of that even though we were trained on their equipment. Me and a Marine friend opened a TV repair shop in his garage, but it did not last long. Other mom and pop electronic repair places went under at the time as well. I ended up working in a repair shop for an electronics retailer for nearly 20 years before being laid off by them. They offered the lowest commissions for their techs in the industry, but I managed to buy my house from their stock investment program. That company is on the ropes these days. A lot of stores closed. What I would of made if I was hired by one of the aerospace giants, I just don't know.

Its just amazing you guys got treated so bad, the only experience I had with hate was, getting off the plne in bangor maine  in 2007, abunch of protesters
were slinging fake blood and spitting on marines and soldiers, I don't understand it, I think some people just don't live in the real world.
