I had my srs last week and I just started to dilate yesterday. I use the small and the medium one currently. The depth is nice with approx. 20cm and the medium dilator is 4cm in diameter.
After dilating I am really done. It is hitting me like a truck every time. After dilating I stay in my bed for one hour without energy to do something. I am still in the hospital but ny return home is scheduled for tomorrow.

How do feel after dilating? I always thought I am a strong girl but currently I feel totally exhausted. I am done. This is really more painful then everything else. How long could it take to be less painful? What is your experience?

I never had what would be called pain with dilation's. More uncomfortable or really uncomfortable.

I did lube the crap out of it so maybe that is what has helped me?

Key is to find your zen in the process. You need to be relaxed down there. The PC muscle is the part that makes dilation uncomfortable and will take a long time (mine almost a year) before it starts to relax and not fight back.

So find your Zen my sister. I also spent time after to relax before getting around and cleaned up.

I understand what you are describing. It took me weeks and weeks to get my strength back. It will come for you too. Hugs

I am in pain from dilation. I have extensive granulation which hasn't had treatment yet. I am just past 90 days post op.

Let's face it, surgery is a major injury to the body, even if it is controlled and done for positive health reasons, but it takes it out of the body.  You have lost body fluids and the pain pills and the IV stuff also needs time to heal and you do not have the stamina you did before for a while.  Stress from stuff that is not healing right, or is not yet healing is also going to drag you down beyond anything you may have imagined.  The dilation is symbolic of the whole damned healing mess, and thus, gives you the final message that you are too danged tired.  I am diabetic and am surprised that I healed as uneventfully as I did. At 18 months I still have draggy days, and as I just said in another thread, the dilator is no longer a pain in the Vagina, but it sure is a pain in the neck!!
I refuse to have a war of wits with a half armed opponent!!

Wiser now about Post Op reality!!

Hi Lara,
I hope you don't mind revivng an old topic... But I want to ask: Did you talk to other Schaff girls about the pain? Is it common at dr. Schaff to have as much pain as you had? Or did you have above-average amount of pain?

I think it is generally accepted that Suporn's method is the most painful. I thought that Schaff is about mid-way regarding pain between PI and Suporn. But so far I discussed pain with three Schaff girls and all of them had a lot. So maybe it is as painful as Suporn's.

I cannot compare the pain between Schaff and Suporn. Their method have some similarities. So it is likely that the pain level is very similar.
The advantage is that Schaff is saving all nerves and I have full feeling in terms of intensity. It just feels different  8) The depth is also great and the look natural. But there is more healing necessary and in the beginning you have to dilate three time a day and it is quite painful. But after the initial two months you switch to two dilation sessions a day and it is no longer painful. It can become a fun part of your live :-)

The surgery puts a hurt on your body but I really can't help you because I returned to work about 4 days out of the hospital. I think the only thing that save me was after a little more than a month after surgery they fired me for the hours I was keeping and it gave me time to recover properly. My advice to you is do what you can and rest as much as possible. Others I knew took between 6 weeks and 2 months before they pretty well over the surgery. While I was working I was sleeping 10 to 11 hours a day and could have used more. Don't feel rushed to get back into any routine until you have recovered more.

Hi Lara,
I was asking about comparison between you and other Schaff girls, not between Schaff and Suporn. Simply if you talked to other Schaff girls about pain...

Hi Lara! Congrats on your surgery!!:)
When I had mine, I never had pain ever. I'm a total pain-wuss so I was sure I'd be done in but of the 3 of us there, the toughie and the other girl both had way more pain than me. I was on painkillers the first week but that was that.
I don't know if your surgeon allows it, but Dr Menard had us using neosporine with lidocane--in canada it was called lidosporine or something like that. I'd apply that to the nose of the dilator so it would help numb the area as it was stretched. I still do that now 20 years later when I haven't dilated for a long time--when I'm having regular sex or dilating regularly I never need the lido.
At your stage, if there's that much pain, it could be an infection...one of my classmates (lol) had a similar problem and it turned out she was infected. Definitely tell your dr about it :)

Thanks but there is no pain left just pleasure. I wrote about the first two months.

I had an infection but without any pain.

The surgery method is much different. Lidocaine on the dilator would not help much. The depth is made during surgery and an issue during dilation like it is when you have a penile inversion.

A 4cm medium dilator is impressive. Suporn's large is 34mm, and the largest Soul Source is 38mm.
