Regarding your inquiry, vocal training is not a prerequisite for VFS surgery. However, it could be helpful after VFS surgery to adapt to your new vocal folds through vocal function exercises.

Yeson's Voice Feminization Surgery is highly differentiated from previous types of VFS surgeries. Most uniquely, it is incision-free and draws the best result upon patients' voice by naturally increasing their voice fundamental frequency about 74Hz in average. Considering female range is between 200~250Hz and male range is 100~150Hz, this surgery is more effective on patients whose fo is over 126Hz to reach 200hz. In case of patients of over 50 years old, the surgery outcome might be limited requiring extra effort doing the vocal function exercise to adapt to the new vocal folds after VFS surgery.



The risk of VFS surgery we perform is almost zero as skin incision on neck is not required but VFS surgery is performed in a safe way by a professional surgeon Dr. Kim. Therefore, you don't have to worry about possible voice loss or unnatural speaking voice tone. Having a natural and permanently high-pitched voice is possible through this safe procedure.

Staying period

For this procedure you should stay in Korea for 9~10 days as the follow-up will take place 7 days after your surgery.

Please find the attachment for more information about VFS program.



Recovery period

The minimum recovery period is one month (7 days of no talking period+3weeks of speaking no more than 5 words a day).

After this period you can have a general conversation though you should not sing or shout for another month so it gives you the total 2 months of recovery period.



Pitch-increasing process

You may experience a gradual pitch increase for one year after VFS surgery. Vocal function exercise is required from 2 months after VFS surgery and with this exercises you should make effort to adapt to your newly shortened vocal folds. Depending on individual's voice characteristics and post-op care, slow or fast progress can be made during one year.



Pre-op checklist form to be filled out before making an appointment. 

To check your surgery applicability, you should fill out the pre-operative checklist form first and check the schedule availability with us at least 3~5 months in advance. Nowadays the dates are being quickly taken for a month so please let us know of your schedule availability as early as possible.



Cancellation policy:

4 weeks cancellation notice prior to your scheduled appointment is required. Otherwise, rescheduling may be restricted. Flight itinerary must be submitted at least one month in advance as a final confirmation.

I dont quite understand - i mean yes of course for those voices it may be rather effortless afterwards to sound feminine, but would it not be even more of a gain for a person with an even lower pitch to at least get close to that range? I mean - the alternative of not getting VFS would be worse for a person with a 100 Hz voice than for a perosn with a 150 Hz voice...

I sure hope so. I did some testing earlier today and came up with 75Hz and 100Hz and it was just depressing.
My voice is naturally low.

75 Hz was the lowest and 100 Hz the average?
(Careful with praat though - I noticed that sometimes the average pitch readings depend on what pitch range you enter in the settings - for the same recording I once got 70-100 Hz or 85-120 Hz depending on the settings - I think I limited pitch display to 500 Hz to get a better look and then it was lower in average, if I set it to 1000, the average is also higher)
