So yeah, I just grabbed my prescription and took my first doses of spiro and estradiol.  For the first week I'm on one tablet of both each day, then after a week I increase my spiro to 1 tablet twice daily.  After a month or so they'll likely increase my estrogen as well and I guess I may end up having my dose of spiro increased.

I was 148lbs this morning at 6'0" and I think I'll drop down to 140 or a little less over the next week or two, then I'm just gonna eat a ton.  I'm changing my diet from doritos, soda, and just all kinds of junk, to fruits, vegetables, eggs and nuts (for the protein), oh, and fish too.  I'm gonna try to stay away from animal protein, aside from fish and I guess the eggs.  Maybe I shouldn't eat eggs, then I can feel special and call myself a pescetarian.  That wasn't a knock on pescetarians; I really think that's a great diet.

I know there has been no physiological effect yet, but I did sort of feel good after taking them.  I'm still not sure how far into it I'll get, but I'm giving it a try and just that alone sort of felt nice.

So, I guess I'm officially on HRT.  I'll keep everyone updated and I appreciate the support everyone on here has shown.  I guess I'll be calling for electrolysis next week.  Already have someone lined up, she charges $65/hr which seems reasonable.  Anyway...

The Question, good luck on your "improved recipe" and as far as the diet goes, actually eggs are good for you. They used to be considered bad, but now they say that eggs have the good cholesterol in them. Good protein, too. Nuts are very good, too, for dieting. I lost a nice bit of weight on that diet a few years ago, but have slipped on that one and back to overweight. I have heard that being overweight helps in boob development, though. It is the fat. I am going to graduate to HRT with the estrogen patches and am now on finasteride, also. It was bovine ovary for a year, before that phyto-estrogen rich herbs. Hope to hear more about your progress in the future.

Thanks, I appreciate the comment.  I'm just saying I should cut them out so I can call myself a pescetarian; sort of a joke, but that's a great diet.  You're right though, eggs can be great for you!!!  I really don't need to go on a diet, in-fact, I'm probably sort of at an OK weight now, but trending more towards the underweight side.  I just wanna drop down to 135-140lbs because I know I can do it quickly and my body can handle it.  Primarily I'm doing it so I can start with not much fat anywhere, including male deposit areas, and then pack on about 40lbs while on HRT, with the majority of it hopefully going to female deposit areas.  So that means I'd have added nearly 1/4 of my weight on HRT.  Then I'll probably drop back down to 145-165 or whatever weight I can be at and have a softer appearance.  I'm pretty muscular too, but it's lean muscle, and when I get that low - even right now at 148lbs really -my arms get real thin.  I'm hoping that starting with my muscles at their smallest will help.  Hopefully the spiro makes it harder for them to build back up.  Anyway, just my strategy, and thanks again.

The Question, You are welcome. Sounds like a great plan that you are doing. If I were to do it over, probably would have tried that way. Too late to lose much weight before the patches arrive, but hopefully it will work out for me having that weight already. Maybe the fat will stay put in the feminine areas of the body while the rest of the body reduces later. Losing weight on HRT may be a losing battle, though, but we can always try!

Yea I lost about 8lb on HRT. However I started off only weighting in at 126 or so. I have now managed to put on 4lb or so in the last week (ridiculous metabolism so it is a lot of effort and money), almost back at my original weight :D
One little thing and dont freak on it, but since you are on spiro don't go mental on the nuts. Most nuts are high in potassium. Also some green leafy veg is too, spinach maybe (yuck). So yea, good luck!

I hope your electrologist is experienced with trans people? Not just zapping random hairs on menopausal women?

Oh and spiro makes it super hard to build muscle once it has nuked your T. I ride my bike all the time, my leg muscles are shrinking.

I'm pretty sure that's a solid plan as well, part of me feels I'd rather need to loose weight then gain it.

Sounds a lot like my deal. I've been on both for almost two weeks. On monday (the 2 week mark) I double both from once a day to twice a day. I experienced a definite placebo effect within 10 minutes, but once I realized it wasn't possible it wore off. There aren't many changes at this point. If I've had any of the mental changes I've heard so much about, they have been minor. However "it" doesn't get excited so easily anymore and when it does "it" doesn't get as excited. I'm extremely grateful for that. However in spite of that, I found my desire increasing not decreasing. I've also been sleeping more, but that seems to be diminishing. So I guess the sleep effects were temporary as my body started to adjust. I'm hoping the mental changes will happen after the dosage increases.

As for the diet, it sounds like your trying to go vegan. I would be very careful with that. I know vegetarian can be good for you, but vegan is actually unhealthy. There are amino acids your body needs that it can't get from plants alone. If you do go the vegan route you should look into supplements (which are probably based on animal products which kind of breaks the vegan thing) to fix what you miss out on. I have a sister who is a vegetarian not a vegan and she still takes the vegan supplements anyway just to make sure she gets enough.

No, I couldn't be vegan, that's... too much dedication.  More of a lifestyle choice I guess.  I eat a lot of sardines (gross, but I like them), tuna, and seafood in general.  I'm not cutting that out.  Basically I'll eat everything I have been eating, aside from "junk food," red meat, chicken, and pork.  I'm gonna eat eggs, that was just a joke.  The eggs will be the only thing holding me back from being pescetarian.

I too wanted to loose weight. I found that by simply reducing everything I was able to do that and I still get to enjoy the things I love....just in moderation.

I actually have to gain weight.  I'll be able to drop to 135lbs easily, likely in a week (very fast metabolism) by just eating less family sized bags of doritos in one sitting and vanilla coke.  I want to put on a pretty sizable amount of weight after I get a little thinner, while on HRT.  I just want to be starting with the cleanest pallet possible; with the least amount of fat in male areas and least amount of muscle mass.  Hoping it will all go to the right areas.

The only reason I'm switching up my diet is because nutrition is really important during puberty, and I'm assuming now as well.  I'll probably be better off in packing on the lbs. with nutritional foods as opposed to just hitting Burger King every night.

Congrats on the HRT. My diet is largely unchanged but I've been on a low carb diet anyway and I exercise.

I take my E 3x per day spaced 8 hours apart and the spiro in the morning as soon as I awake along with the other meds I'm taking.

On diet I take in low carbs but lots of fruits/veg and protein.

I was going to fast food for lunch everyday. Now I'm doing adkins meals for lunch 4 days a week and Chipotle Fridays. I was surprised but Adkins are actually pretty tasty.

Fast food is the worst to eat every day. The sodium alone will kill you. I have it once a week with the kids as a reward for good behavior. They get happy meals with a toy. However since they misbehaved this week so my wife and I are getting indian food and they can have some of that.

Can I come over?  I love Indian food!

To the OP-  congrats!!!  You will pry my E from my cold, dead hand.  I started farting rainbows and pixie dust pretty much right away.  Did they warn you about that side effect?

no... but I have to admit that I do sort of feel better in just having started.  I can see how that would happen.

I love it too. Actually I don't mind meeting up my Susan's sisters and brothers for a meal.

I forgot to mention. I was video taping an Indian wedding some years ago and I got to eat the Indian food at the reception dinner with the guests. Delightful! Never had it before, but was very good indeed!

It is.

Bear in mind though that some "Indian" food was invented in Great Britain. That doesn't make it taste any less good.

You also need to try some Caribbean Indian foods. One of the things I miss but thankfully I can get ingredients here.
