Apples Mk.II

I had a type I on a Friday (apparently I looked out, lots of bone and deep set sinuses, I almost was going to get a type III), and I was directed to keep the headband holding my skin 24 hours for 9 days, until a Monday morning I was allowed to remove it and finally wash my hair.

The thing is, I did not ever put it back again, although I saw another girl still wearing it after the removal. Maybe I did not understand well the nurses and I am starting to get paranoid now. It's been three weeks since FFS and I AMS starting to wonder if I should have kept wearing it, maybe for sleeping. I'm having my fears now about the skin not fully reattaching, or the scalp skinreceeding again...

Can anybody clarify on this? I wasn't given any post-op care instructiona, and I'm having to search everything on the net...

I would contact Dr. Chettawut's office.  I had type 3 surgery (different surgeon), and if I remember correctly, my surgeon removed all of my bandages and the drain after 3 days, but he didn't remove the staples and some of the sutures until about a week after the surgery. And I had dissolvable sutures that took several months to disappear.

I kept the forehead stiches until three days after the headband removed (12 days post-op), when they told me I was healing fast and keeping them would slow down the recovery. So now I am left with the self dissolving dark blue ones around my forehead.

I lucked out! Those auto-corrections can be annoying sometimes.

Seriously, I wouldn't place too much importance on a flimsy bandage. Skin "re-attaching" is not dependant upon it. For an eyebrow lift, for example, the surgeon places little endotines (carpet grippers) or permanent sutures underneath the skin to keep the skin from dropping. I wouldn't worry about it. I've had enough of these surgeries to know..

The only observation I can offer is that the surgeon I just had a consultation with actually doesn't use wrapped bandages (or a headband at all for that matter I believe) because he found they worsen the swelling.  He has 15 years of experience in cosmetic surgery and extensive training in reconstructive surgery so I'll take his word for it.  If he doesn't use bandages on the forehead for the purpose you described then I guess you shouldn't have to worry about the length of time wearing the headband.
