Anyone on here who is on T ever experienced trouble with period cessation? My doctor said mine was supposed to have stopped/started to stop already, I am 3 months on Testim gel. However, I'm still getting them, and instead of getting lighter, mine have only gotten heavier, and PMS symptoms are a lot worse. I am so damn sleepy and sore I don't want to get out of bed. I am going to call my doctor on Monday and ask her about it. Anyone know why this might be happening?

Marcellow

It can take a while before they stop, someone on YouTube said their periods didn't stop until 6 months.

My friend just hit 1 year and his are still coming. They've started to get further apart but they're still there. He's been on androgel and compound lotions

Mine got pretty heavy for awhile, and cramps were pretty bad. Then throughout the entire month of September I was spotting tiny amounts of blood every day but not having an actual period. That was frustrating as all hell but they seem to have stopped completely now!

At three months I'd say wait a bit longer for them to stop, but since you're having such extreme symptoms it's probably best to just chat with your doctor about it and see what she says.

At least you know what to expect. 2 months in and my period still came but it was really light last time. Maybe it'll be gone by 3 or 4 months.

nearly 2 months on testim. i had one that was slightly better than normal about two weeks after i started t. i should be pmsing right now, but i haven't noticed anything? i'm not sure if i'm done, if i'm going to spot, or if it's going to be irregular because of the hormonal changes. i'd consult my dr, if i were you. sorry you're having trouble :(

Stopping the bleeding was the very first thing I did for my transition, 5 years before I started testosterone. I got the mirena IUD, and within 2-3 months my periods had completely stopped. I was due for a replacement by the time I started T so I got it replaced with another one for until I could get a hysterectomy. The switch from the old to the new IUD gave me a few weeks of bleeding, for which my doctor got me a heavy dose of female hormones to make it stop. It sucked, I felt terrible, and my pharmacy was very reluctant to hand over the testosterone and the female hormone pills, had to fight them for it, but I couldn't handle bleeding at all.

nyrangers30, did you ever get your periods to stop?  I have not been any update on how you are doing.

I'd like to report that my periods officially stopped 2 and a half months in!  ;D

Good to hear Marcellow.  You have had no cramping or anything to indicate that you still have those internal parts?

Not really. I only just discovered that it ceased but I will update you guys on that once I get around the end of January. Last one started November 21st.

its different for everyone, mine stopped after 1 month on T. but i know some guys who it didnt stop until 3 or 4 months on T.

There's no "normal" or set amount of time in which a guy's periods will cease on T, regardless of what form of T he is taking.

I will say that with gels, it seems to take longer for them to stop.  Then again, I take IM injections and it still took mine 3 months to stop.

Mine stopped when I started Hormones. I had my April period from about April 6th to the 11th and got my first shot on April 14th. Never had one since. But I'm doing injections. Maybe it's different for Gel?
I've found you, Beast!

I got my first shot of Nebido almost six months ago and I still got my period last month. They've been getting further apart and lighter, though.

nyrangers30, did you ever get your periods to stop?  I have not been any update on how you are doing.

Sadly, no. I actually ended up menstruating twice in the month of December. The symptoms/side effects got worse too. I had PMDD diagnosed at 16 (I'm 21 now) so sometimes I get depressed/anxious when I menstruate, but usually for only a day or two. The last time I got it a few weeks ago, I was severely depressed for a week and couldn't even get out of bed. Its not even dysphoria related, its just how my body responds. So I really need to get it taken care of.  Luckily I have an appointment for bloodwork on the 13th and then with my T doctor on the 21st so I should be able to figure out the issue with her. I will update you all after that!

Yeah, it is different for every guy. People insist that there is no difference between gel and shots, but just by talking to people I still feel like there is. Luckily I should be switching to shots in a month so we'll see if that makes a difference.

nyrangers30

Update: I was 4.5 months on Testim gel. My levels were too high and T was converting to E and I ended up getting 2 periods in a month because of it. I then switched to shots and have had 2, but still getting my period.  >:(

Hopefully my doctor can help me stop them. I think I have heard about other treatments that helps stop periods, do any of you know of them?

mm

Best to check with your dr. You need your levels checked regularly to get the correct T and E levels.
