Hey friends. Like some trans girls, I have to wear a wig. Thanks, genetics. But it's a lovely wig, and it totally suits me. I've learned how to fix it and soften it when it starts getting frizzy and worn. This is great. However, my wig has always been a little thin in the back. So much, that you can often see the weft behind it. Not a good look. I found a video online about fixing a thinning wig. It helps, but I'd like to know if anybody here knows anything about this. Where can I find replacement hair? Are these the same things as hair extensions? What about finding the right color? I feel like if I ask someone at a wig shop, they'll just want to sell me a new wig. I don't want a new wig. I like mine!

That's a request I haven't heard before-- replacing lost hair in a wig. Normally you get hairpieces to replace lost hair on your head. I suppose you could find a hairpiece close in color and clip it into your wig. However, hairpieces often cost as much as or more than a whole wig, so from an economic standpoint you might be better off just wig shopping. Wigs have a limited lifespan, depending mostly on how often they are worn or washed.
