I was shocked how some of the girls were sitting on their donuts and chatting over breakfast a week or two after surgery.... I couldn't sit without serious pain for a month or more, and a feeling like I was perched on a tennis ball for six months. It wasn't quite the pain you described, I more imagined all the blood in my body rushing down there to try to go through blood vessels that had been severed.... a strange but very bad feeling! It does go away, but I'm glad Suporn put us up for 4 weeks post-op, which I mostly spent on my back. For the flight home, I popped more Tramadol than I can remember (literally of course:) and that made it okay. As an aside, I was assured that dilating on a return flight (no matter the length) was NOT needed, and this proved correct, so at least don't worry about having to do that in an airport somewhere...
Good luck!
