How much to expect from Dutasteride alone and how soon?

I have just started taking Dutasteride for my prostate as prescribed by my doctor, and I am wondering how much and when if any changes in breast increase and reduction of my male bits I can expect?

Others have mentioned that HRT changes the size to like when swimming in cold water, will Dutasteride do the same?   Sorry but I don't know if I can use the proper words to describe the male genitalia on this forum?   Do they stay that size all of the time?  Will Dutasteride accomplish this or will I need Estrogen and Spiro also?

I have been unable to CD as we had someone in the house during the holidays that does not know of my CD's.  She went out for the first time last night and the I dressed and became more hateful of my male genitalia. If I had been given an opportunity I would had it removed right then!

I am not sure that I want to transition, but I do want to start on HRT to gain breasts and reduce what is down there to a bare minimum,   I still need to pass for a few more years until my life becomes simpler.  I just came out to my wife of 40 years as a CD as I cannot cope with my GD anymore.

I need to move forward and need to find a Gender Therapist  and also an  Electrologist that you can recommend in the South Miami or Kendall area.

Umm, I dont claim to be an expert. but Dutasteride has anti-androgenic properties only in respect of treating male pattern baldness (I am taking Avodart and I am slowly regaining what I had lost - not much of visible loss but I can attest that this stuff works). Now, for breast growth You would need estradiol because they wont grow just because Your T will get lower. As for reduction of male genitals, well, people do report shrinkage, but this is very much "your mileage may vary" and You might need much stronger antiandrogens than Dutasteride. It will start with testicle shrinkage and may affect other parts as well - or may not.

Dutasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor, which means it prevents testosterone from being converted to DHT (dihydrotestosterone), this won't actually lower your T level. Some report erectile dysfunction, btu shrinkage is unlikely.

Generally it doesn't have any affect on breast growth. It's main affects are to help shrink the prostate and to help deal with DHT which helps deal hair loss. As someone else already stated you really need a hormone like estrogen to grow breasts.

Thank You

I was afraid of that, statistically there is like a 1 % chance of breast growth, but I won't be so so lucky.

I guess I need to get an appointment with a therapist soon and discuss my issues to get started on HRT.  As far as I know Florida is an "Informed Consent" state, but I definitely need guidance in keeping my head straight and making all of the right decisions.

Other than the list here of therapist by states, anyone has a suggestion on to whom to talk to?  I have always imagined that South Florida would be very open to transgenders but that does not appears to be the case, we do have a large number of gays, but so far I have not been able to get a hold of anyone who could recommend a therapist, and I know what I need but don't know any doctors or endo's name that could help me.
