Hello everyone!
My name is Blake. After 20 years of crippling social anxiety and being displeased with my body and identity, I finally started my transition from female to male and am very happy to be living as I was always meant to. I started testosterone in September 2014 and am thrilled with the changes I have experienced so far. I am a college student trying to support myself as much as possible since my family is having some financial issues right now. This means I have little to no room to save up for transition costs. I am trying to save up for my legal name change now, because where I live, it is quite pricey. My legal name is super feminine a huge source of dysphoria. I am passing pretty well, but as soon as people see my name on my bank card, ID, or whatever else, they take back their recognition of me being male. It is pretty humiliating. I usually hate asking for money, but a friend of mine gave me the idea of a fundraiser page Thank you SO much for taking the time to hear my story. Best to you all!

Hi Blake,

A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.

Congratulations on the mighty effort you are doing. Self acceptance is the key to this journey. Everything else doesn't really matter. If you can live with yourself, everyone can live with you. Simple.

As you've probably worked out, transition is not an overnight thing. There are great experience to have along the way.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.

Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Welcome Blake!

Also I've heard that some colleges will let you put a different name on a college id since it's not technically a legal document. Doesn't really help with the bank card though. I'm in the same boat. Trying to save up for stuff is hard when you're already on a tight budget.
