So I've been meaning to start a physical fitness regime to try and get rid of my ugly beer belly and get back into shape in general.  Since I should start hrt sometime in February,  now seems like a particularly good time to slim down so I have a clean slate, so to speak, when I start hrt.  But I've been looking at old pictures of myself in my early 20s (25 now) when I was very thin and weighed around 110-115 lbs (5'6 140 now) and my faced looked more angular and masculine than it does now.  Also, I've been told that I currently look a bit curvy and have a somewhat feminine body type for pre everything...so I'm worried about losing what I have, seeing as I might be able to pass now with a bit of effort.

So...start now or wait?  Would it be more difficult to get in shape after starting hrt?

Personally I don't know but, I'm going to be working out and losing some Wight before I start as best as I can, anything to help stave off the Wight I may put on. :-X

It will definitely be more difficult to lose weight when you are on estrogen.  Lose weight while you can.  Don't worry about gaining muscle mass.  Estrogen will take that away.

I've seen a lot of people ask this, but I'm not quite sure I understand the reasoning behind it. It will be more difficult to get in shape after HRT, but even if you get in shape before HRT, you don't just get in shape and that's the end of it. You have to work to stay in shape as well, and doing so will still get more difficult after starting HRT. So losing weight before HRT won't confer you any kind of advantage over losing it afterwards, other than the fact that you're doing it sooner rather than later.

I spent a lot of time and effort on weight loss and general fitness before HRT, however keeping my weight down has been a constant front of mind effort... as far as fitness goes, I am a real keen skier and use winter skiing to keep the fitness up and a some cycling during the rest of the year... but I am nowhere near a fitness lover (other than skiing) :D

My advice is control the weight before HRT then manage beyond  ;)

I've been reading around and trying to get a good pre HRT fitness regime together. I've always been somewhat athletic but now that I'm set on getting to therapy and transitioning.. I'm making my daily routine less about cardio and more about toning. Squats, crossovers, flutterkicks.. ect.. trying to get my butt in shape for when it gets that little extra weight from HRT.

I have very close-set legs. Just as men work out and gain muscle mass (wider shoulders) could I slightly gain hips? I'm not asking if I can magicaly grow a J-Lo booty at the gym.. lol.. But has anyone been able to alter their frame (however slight) or how far apart their legs are through physical training? My stomach and chest are of very little matter to me at this time. I'm trying to focus currently on my bottom half. One step at a time.. then maintain it.

In short

Has anyone had positive results from toning at the gym to feminize your body pre hrt?
