Trigger warning: Self mutilation on MTF? Please help. Urgent.

Hey so I run 2 different blogs on tumblr. One is a personal blog I run with my girlfriend, and the other is for transgender girls who identify as anything other than straight. I made it so they could connect with each other, so they know they're not alone, etc. I'm cisgender, and my girlfriend is transgender. (I'll comment with the blog names, so an administrator can delete the comment if that's not allowed on here. Sorry I'm not too sure about the rules.)

But this is the issue. On my personal blog I got a message from a trans girl stating that she wanted to cut "it" (her genitals) off. So honestly that really worried me, and I want her to be as safe as possible. I know that no one should cut off a limb, and I know it's not a smart thing to do, even if it's what you really want.

I gave her the phone number of a transgender lifeline.

One of the main things I told her is that if she wants to get surgery one day, the doctors need that material in order to make the parts she needs. I also told her that the loss of blood and the initial trauma could possibly put her body into shock, and maybe even kill her.

I haven't really dealt with self harm, but this is a very serious thing, and I'm really worried.

Do you have any advice on what I should tell her? I could really use it right now.

I agree, what you said was correct. Also, maintain contact so she has a place to get support

You've done what you can do. Any decision she makes is her choice but you gave her the right information. In addition to maiming herself she may ruin totally any chance of having a properly modelled vag, vulva and clitoris. She may say, right now she doesn't care, but it is highly likely she'll regret it in very short order. She needs professional help if this is a serious threat (as opposed to a throw away comment which is more common than you might realise) and you've done what you can. Try and keep in touch with her, follow up and see if she has contacted the lifeline.
