Hi,
Does anyone have a recommendation for a GP/Endo in the Southern California area? Maybe closer to Orange County.

Thanks in advance!!

I've been going to Dr. O'Dea in Marina del Rey for 2 years and love him. He does good work, I am happy to hand out another review.

He's on informed consent, so the first visit can also be the first treatment- pretty neat. He doesn't always require bloodwork depending on your case and history. You just have to talk to him and he will decide if you need bloodwork beforehand.

The downside for some is that he is expensive and doesn't accept any form of insurance. The upside is that he is a master with subdermal implants, which means treatments every 4-6 months and good results, low emotional impact.

If you are looking for something a little less pricey, there are lots of endocrinologists out there that do accept insurance- probably closer to OC as well. Perhaps others will have some good recommendations.

Good luck Jasmine :) And welcome to the site!

I have been seeing Dr. Richard Horowitz in Beverly Hills.  No insurance, not cheap, but got the job done.

Hey I know this is a bit late but you said Orange County so I had to register for here instead of lurking lol.  Sarah Rettinger in Orange is fantastic.  She's in Blue Shield's SaveNet, I'm sure they take other insurance plans too.  I'm never going to have a different endo if I can help it.  She's started working with trans people fairly recently and is actually excited to learn everything she can and help out.  She even made a point of emphasizing pronouns to the receptionist before I was passing well.  Can't recommend her enough.

Hi and thanks, everyone for responding. :)

I'm going to see Dr. Ewa Farrelly on LBC. She seems really nice, knows her stuff, and is genuinely interested in trans health matters. She also comes highly recommended from my therapist. Has anyone else been to see her? What therapists are people using in OC?

Are there any support groups or places to go that are trans-friendly besides BeingMe?

I'm excited to start my journey soon! Just a few more steps and I should be on my way!!
