"A Native American transgender woman who was severely beaten in Brooklyn, New York has finally regained her ability to speak almost two weeks after being assaulted by four men who have not been identified, officials said. The woman's severe injuries have prevented her from giving consent to release her name to the press."

Get that, folks?

FOUR men.  That seems to be the magic number for herd mentality to take over.

Be safe, people.  Be safe.

Very sad.  :(
I hope she recovers fast.
Transexualism, Gender Identity, Gender Dysphoria Education should be taught in schools if not already.
Kids are prone to see a lot more of it in todays society and if they do not understand what it is as they grow up, it will turn some into the 4 Men in this story, because they were taught that way.

Educate your kids, family, friends, Co-workers, ect.
My Fantasy is having Two Men at once...

One Cooking, One Cleaning.  ;D

Brooklyn is not that bad as a whole. A have several friends that are lesbian and transgender that live in the Park Slop Area (locally known as Dyke Slope in the LGBT community) This can happen anywhere and no place is 100% safe. It's happened in Chelsea, Astoria and it's happened in the suburbs. I've heard through the grapevine that her voice clocked her and that's when things went bad. I hope they catch these men and through the book and then some at them.

What's really is they always seem to attack in groups. These aren't men they are losers who would hurt anyone if they got the chance. I don't care if you are a female, trans or gay they just seem to have to prove to the other losers in there group that they a cool so lets beat someone up. Hell in Chicago they go around cold cocking 80 and 90 year old people. So f___ing cool and strong aren't they....? I wonder how they are one on one? Be safe girls.

Hugs,

Melissa Ann

Might get attacked for this but I don't care. These so called "liberal" zones aka urban areas are the most dangerous places anywhere for a lbgt ... I'm sure her attacker was not a member of the nra or voted Romney last circle. Most probably like living on edge I do not

I grew up in Brooklyn and know Bushwick fairly well. I ventured into Brooklyn this past summer and had no incident. I pray that the young woman will fully recover.

Teaching kids about LGBT people is part of the "Gay Agenda" the Far Right is always on about. You know: the huge, massive, overarching conspiracy orchestrated by our secret Queer Overlords. We can't have that in 'Murica!

I hope she recovers fully and the four cowards and caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Prayers go to this woman.
Seriously though, people are so barbaric. If people just took time to not saturate themselves in media and actually went outside and learned about people like her then the world would be a better place. The media has a really wicked way of portraying LGBT individuals as less desirable people, when that is not the case. Game Theory makes a very good point enforcing that claim. Maybe if people got up from their little couches or whatever and actually spoke to people like us then maybe the world would be a little bit better of a place to live in.

i disagree. My experience with being in the company of males leads me to believe that pack mentality can be had with only TWO (a leader, and a minion). so says at least afew bullying incidents in high school, and once incident where a smooth talking teenager (now distant brother in law), convinced me to stir up trouble right alongside him.

after those events, i Absolutely Refuse to be in the company of men, unless it is very well defined as to why im there, and for how long.

From what our family has seen, the Hipsters (ie kids in their 20's) are culturally way ahead in this regard.  Our daughter, who is quite a bit younger, just read about Charlie Parkhurst in her California History curriculum.  He was described as a transgender man, *not* a "woman who dressed as a man" as has usually been the case in the past.  Also mentioned was that Saint Anselm of Canterbury was gay and Joan d'Arc may have been gender variant.  But there seems to be a growing divide between the younger generation and those just a bit older (& up) on the other side who are forming a violent reactionary subculture it would seem.  It comes down to familiarity & a portrayal of being trans as something real and simply part of humanity.  And as more people know or are related to someone who is transgender it *is* becoming normalized.   But that also means that those who base their personal self-worth and social power on a strict sex & gender binary are feeling the threat of obsolescence.

Given that this happened in Brooklyn, and the pictures from the surveillance video, I doubt that it was 4 far right wing "good ole boys" waving confederate flags and driving pickup trucks with duallies who just came from a cross burning that did the deed.

I'm not saying that these kinds of people are like Mother Teresa, but what I am saying is that hate for us comes from all sides. Even so-called tolerant liberals and democrats.

That's why I am a libertarian.

You are you, you are free to be you. It doesn't burden me, why should it bother me.

As for teaching it in schools, sure. Teach it in social studies and science. Teach the facts, don't teach an agenda. And the facts are we are who we are, it's OK to be you and we should be nice to people as long as they don't harm others. Transgender people are not harming anyone by being ourselves.

But even so, you're going to have haters. That's why you learn to and have the means to protect yourself.  This is where the far left hates you. They don't want you to protect yourself by any means. They go soft on hardened criminals. I've seen it. Especially here in Jersey where we have judges who will throw the book at you for a minor offense like crossing into NJ with a concealed firearm (but with a permit in your own state) but hardened criminals who commit burglary and armed robbery with illegal guns with the serial numbers sanded off get their charges pleaded down and are back out in less than a year. Protect yourself? Here's 0.75oz of pepper spray. Have a nice day. The police will arrest them, but good luck prosecuting them.

(Yes, I know, necro thread, but I felt this deserved a response).

Thank you.  I only noticed the date on the comment just prior to my own, didn't realize the thread was one of the undead.
