I can't seem to delete pictures on old posts of mine after a while unless I simply delete the imager link which I'd rather not do if I have to.  After you've made a post you can modify or delete it, but after a while you can't anymore.  Any reason why?  And if not any other way to delete pictures posted you no longer want shown?  Thanks.

Since any image posted here is viewable through a link to a host site just remove it from the host site, or change the file name of the image on the host site.

This doesn't seem to work!!
I posted a photo linked to a Photobucket account that I had second thoughts about afterwards.
I changed the file name and even removed the photo from the Photobucket account but it's still in the post!
Does this mean that Susans has now copied it?  I'm rather concerned to be honest!

Browsers will cache the photo, but will usually lose it after certain amount of time or surfing, so anyone that saw it initially will continue to see it for a little bit after its deleted from the host site. New people visiting the topic will not see it.

I dumped the cache and also viewed on another PC and it's still there.
So I don't know?

I suppose its possible that the server for this place could cache it for a bit too. I know I've removed pics from pb in the past and it took a little while to stop showing for me here. Never really tried it on other computers right after though.

One thing you do have to take into account too, that even if you have a pic up for only a few minutes, there's a good chance someone can/will copy it before it is taken down. There are a lot of guests and I'm sure they visit the photo topics quite a bit and no telling who some of those people are...

So if you have any doubt at all about any pic, do not post it. I even do google searches periodically to check for any pics associated with my real name and any user names I have.

You are absolutely sure you've deleted the exact instance of the image you'd linked to?

I just looked at all your posts (that are in areas I can view), one shows a dead link to a photo, that's all. There are no images viewable.

Thanks Devlyn,

Sorry if I started a false alarm. It does appear that there is some delay from when I removed the file/link from photobucket and when it   dissapears from view here on this site, in fact a delay of several hours. I have to assume that the photo is cached temporarily on Susans.
But it's all resolved now. I must take a bit more care in posting as well!
