I didn't know that Miro does consults in NYC. That's pretty cool.

We should form a weight-loss alliance. I'm working on re-losing weight...I resent that I became so hopeless and negative that I gained so much back, especially since the very thing that was depressing me was the disability that prevented my exercising! Pretty stupid when I think about it.

I know that I can lose some by eating more consciously, and I've lost about five pounds in the past five weeks by doing just that. I'm losing at half the rate I could lose if I could exercise, but I'll take it. If I could lose another five or ten, I'd start feeling much better about myself. I'm just not sure how far I can go with diet alone. I keep thinking that I'll get my body fat down far enough to avoid the extra phallo stage. But I have to admit that getting full phallo with everything in only two procedures is on the heroic side anyway.

Now, if only my hysto case manager would get back to me. I wrote to her again last weekend, tomorrow is Friday, and we have a three-day weekend coming up. What is taking so long? Grrr.

I'd get phallo yesterday if I could. Narly forearm scar and all. Unfortunately I live in PA where exclusions are the law of the land. Watching this thread with much I terest.

Yeah, his website says he'll do consults in the states if he's going to be traveling there. When I asked about his travel schedule, he proposed meeting up while he's here in October. Much more doable than flying to Belgrade.

I think we should start a weight loss for bottom surgery support thread. Reading through some of the comments in other groups I'm a part of, it seems like a lot of people out there are struggling with it. The change in diet has been bleh. It's all right when I remember to eat every 2-3 hours, but if I go long due to work, I'm miserable.

I'm sorry you're having so many issues with insurance! The response I got from mine about including everything was actually really nice and very informative. They said they were sorry it had taken so long to get back to me, but that they wanted to be sure they were getting me the most accurate info. Even gave me the extension for the supervisor that should be able to help me if I have any claims issues.

I heard back from Crane's patient coordinator today. After she told me that they didn't have permission to post any MLD results on the website, I had asked if he had permission to show these specific results in office. She said I'd have to ask him during a consult. Why would I even book a consult if he has nothing to show me that I want to see? Ugh.

I think that your only card is to make it clear that the consultation depends on the availability of photos. Unfortunately, Crane has no lack of patients, so you probably won't get much leverage.

I keep hoping that my insurance contact is slow because she is trying to get my regular GYN covered for my hysto, but I feel that she should at least respond to my queries about the doctor who IS covered! (I don't even know who he is.) I don't know whether either doctor is free when I am (I have to write to my GYN and see when he is available; I'll do it this weekend).

I would normally have about a twelve- or thirteen-day window for this surgery, but one of my schools has an unusually late semester this year, so I've lost a week of availability even if I turn my grades in the day after the last class.

Things are so tight that I'm now considering the weekend after Christmas, and that scheduling gives me only a week and a half before I have to go back to teaching full-time--plus nearly three hours of commuting. Fortunately, I would have to teach only two days that week. I don't know whether a nine-day recovery is reasonable, so I'll have to ask guys who have had hysto. And I would be in trouble if I had complications. It's all very frustrating.

I hope that bottom surgery isn't so hard to plan. I'll be taking whole summers off then.

Yeah, I thought I was fairly clear in the follow up email to her that photos are a requirement of mine to even do the consult. I'm sure Crane's MLDs are just as good as everything else he does, but I'd wager that it is the procedure he does the least of. If there are no photos, I just can't consider him. It's too important a procedure to go into it blind. I'll ask around for pics in the various online groups, but I'm not holding my breath. It makes my life easier to take him off the table.

Ugh, scheduling. Is there a significant difference in recovery period based on type of hysto? I hadn't looked at it as a standalone procedure, so I'm not sure. My friend just got his scheduled and he said he's looking at two weeks off work and six weeks of no sex.

Now that this thread is no longer relevant to the subject, I think I'm going to start a consolidated thread for myself with all my bottom surgery related emails/experiences/etc.

I believe Dr.Rumer in PA does Phallo but i've heard she's pretty new to it. All the good results I've seen come from Dr.Nim (Some from Crane aren't bad) but I think he's either in UK or Germany.
Max have you had a hysto yet? just out of curiosity.

I'm really starting to think about the hysto and it makes my stomach sick thinking about it just because I don't want to go to a gyno lol. Wonder if anyone will perform it without an exam or anything but probably not.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I dunno.

I think Dr. Nim is with the London Team. Rumer lists that she does FTM GRS on her website, but doesn't go in depth about it which is a big red flag. I imagine that hers would be in the vein of Leis or McGinn's, given her plastic surgery focus - pretty but not sensate.

I haven't yet! I'm seeing my doctor next week to discuss referral letters for phallo. If I end up going with Dr. Miro, he'll do my hysto for cheaper than I'd pay here with insurance. If I decide to work with insurance, I believe Dr. Schecter has you do the hysto separately. My friend is having his done in two weeks (he's going to Crane next March) at GW Hospital. If you ask for it, they will give you a sedative for the exam.

Yeah and I haven't seen any results by her either. I will definitely need to be drugged for my exam that's for sure lol. I guess this adventure will be on my list for next year or after. I'll just need to really look into my insurance so I don't get screwed over again :p.

I had top surgery with Rumer. She does phalloplasty but there is no microsurgery involved or lengthening of the urethra. It is not sensate. What I like to call the meat stick.

I may be the odd one out on this but I did not have to get an exam for my hysto? I had to go for the consult and my surgeon consulted with my endo and my psych cause she had never done this before with a transgendered person and I was only like 18 or 19 at the time, but I did not have to have any type of exam done.
