Are dating sites safe

I was just wonder if the sites are safe as long as you don't put down address or phone number or full name

Think only as safe as what you give them or your conversations and real or fake email.

Hmm; if someone really wants they can probably track you down. From geotagged photos to outright hacking there are lots of tricks to find someone. Ultimately anything you do on the Internet is a risk though how much depends on a wide variety of factors.

Just an edit for clarity, driving in a car is also a risk but one I would usually consider and acceptable risk, assuming not too much Info is out there I would also categorize online dating as an acceptable risk.

It depends which site you're referring to, some are safer than others.  I think that the dating world in and of itself isn't safe, but that's ubiquitous for all women dating.  If you decide to converse with people online, your communique could be trace-routed to your IP address, but using free wifi has a host of other problems.  I don't think most people in the online dating world are that into hacking the people they match with.  But it is another portal to Adopt-A-Stalker.  The rub is finding the balance between throwing yourself out there on the mercy of the world and hiding in a cave of solitude.

TLDR:  Try a service that allows stages of anonymity, and traverse its dating pool until you are made uncomfortable.  Trust your own judgement about creeps.  Be safe, and good luck. 😉

well. so far I think I'm all right because I only use free wifi and I'm not subscribed to any of them , I just take the free levels which are pretty limited except I've all ready had a guy wanting me to text him , which ain't going to happen , but I will talk on the site. I did exchange emails with a real sweet heart, but when I told him I was trans he ran.

I joined one and the emails they are sent are internal like the conversations or personal messages here's ts only when you ask the person to meet you...the sites do give advise on not sending your emails sending people money etc.
I met up with the  'date' at a mutual place in the city for a drink or meal.

I met my partner through a dating website three years ago.

...c'mon Ms Grace...need some feedback on how your sailing on your journey on your dating website,have  you sent an 'interested' how are you message yet?

I suppose they are. I've been on a few of them.
Never had any success though. The meat market sites don't work well for me and eharmony gave me people i'm not really interested in.

I've done it and am doing it now. You have to be careful, as so many are on just as a game. I'm very open and honest in my profile and believe in full disclosure. If you have a problem with who I am, well, I don't want to talk or see you either. So many guys don't even read the profile, but only look at the picture.  The liars get easy to weed out. Maybe I'm calloused, or maybe just a bitch, but I know a little about a lot of things, and in great detail. So I tend to vet anyone that I chat with initially to see if they are 'real' or not. The stupidity of others just baffles me. I'm interested in honesty and loyalty. Those are the keys for me. If you're afraid of putting yourself out there, you can get a random name and e-mail account from http://www.fakenamegenerator.com/.  The account has to be accessed every 24 hr period in order for it to remain valid.
But just be careful. Once you get the hang of things, you'll become more adept at who and what is real.
