I want to point out that both Crossdressers and Transvestites are a integral part of our community.

From the TOS:

and  from the Standard Terms and Definitions on Susan's Place:

Transgender: an inclusive umbrella term which covers anyone who transcends their birth gender for any reason. This includes but is not limited to Androgynes, Crossdressers, Drag kings, Drag queens, Intersexuals, Transsexuals, and Transvestites.

It's that simple. If you don't like it I will be quite happy to accept your deletion request.

If you have a trigger about any part of our community, that's a personal problem and one that you need to learn to deal with! Anyone who advocates for the division of our community will face the full sanction promised under TOS 10.

10. Bashing or flaming of any individuals or groups is not acceptable behavior on this web site and will not be tolerated in the slightest for any reason.  This includes but is not limited to:

• Advocating the separation or exclusion of one or more group from under the Transgender umbrella term
• Suggesting or claiming that one segment or sub-segment of our community is more or less legitimate, deserving, or real than any others
• Posting any messages that engages in personal attacks and/or is actively or passively aggressive whatever the provocation.

like I said I'm new I'm a crossdresser I have been 40+yrs I've have been letting myself be seen in public I finally got enough nerve to go in to a convenience store and a few nights later a liquor store scard like hell. I don't think I pass as a woman very well at all. I'm a ugly man and even uglier woman any suggestions?

If you want to show us your picture we have several photo threads and the Gallery, those would be more appropriate locations. This thread was intended as a reminder of site policy.

A bit puzzled as to whether there is a difference between these two groups, or they are essentially the same and the rest is pure semantics? Just curious, and reading description in ICD (which is outdated) was not very helpful either.

Yes, there is a difference. Naturally, we are all on a spectrum and these are not hard and fast labels.

Thnx! One thing I kind of learned during last year was that this - TV/CD - is another area which is tricky to be subjected to labels, and some approaches which used to be quickly assigned (the fetish stuff) are not always applicable. As well as not all crossdressers are transsexuals-in-the process and they have their own unique sort of issues to face.
